Hymer B680
Hi all, I've recently aquired a Hymer 680B, I have only driven round the block 2 weeks since wirh no problems, however this morning went to start it and an alarm is beeping when engine is running I've made sure all the door are locked but I have no idea whats going on and theres no indication on the dashboard, can anyone help please ?

But could it be the step buzzer gone rogue ? Can you tell where the buzzing comes from, on mine the buzzer is next to the EBL in the cabinet next to driver (RHD) Yours may be different
What alarm to you have, they're usually combined with the immobiliser but yours seems not to be ?
Or maybe faulty step switch, they're mounted in the plastic cover over the step motor and can get pushed out of allignment so no longer operate correctly

Hi Figaro, I'm not even sure if I have an imobilzer, the beeping seems to be right behind the instrument cluster on the dashboard, only beeps when engine running.

I dont think it's the step at fault because I purposley left the hab step down and started the engine got a buzzing noise along with the beeping, retracted the sep and buzzing stopped but still got beeping.

Sorry I've no idea then.
What year is your motorhome, most Ducatos have factory fitted immobilizer.

Mine beeped if the seats weren't correctly positioned, the Reed contacts are awkward to adjust and the assembler hadn't bothered.

Still no joy, any more ideas ? I did find a loose wire under the drivers seat with a small yellow conector but could'nt see wher it belongs and could not get the seat off to investigate more so don't know if thats the problem.

I doubt it, most vehicles have connections on the wiring loom for accessories you don't have

I just had another thought, when I took delivery all the water had been drained and the drains were left open, I didn't realise until I started to refill the fresh water and it was running straight through, it took me a while to figure out how to stop it, I then started the engine and thats when the beeping started, could that be the problem ?.

Only if the tap (pump) button is switched on.

If the tank is empty, the pump button should be switched to OFF
(To ensure you dont try to pump non-existant water, which will knacker your pump)

Does it start beeping as soon as the ignition is turned on, before the engine is started ?
Did you buy from a dealer, can you ask them

We have a Hymer (Mercedes 2018)

The internal alarm sounds if:
  • The handbrake is on (even a little bit, can take several goes to make it happy its off)
  • If the step is down (They have been known for the alarm to sound if the step is up and the sensor failed)
  • The satellite dish is up
  • The fridge is not happy (usually no gas, but this would not happen if the engine is on)
  • The loo cassette is full
  • Seat belt not plugged in (Including passenger seat if a weight is on the seat)
  • The TPS (Tyre pressure system) have been triggered by low pressure in a tyre (including spare)
  • Low fuel ?
  • High engine temp ?
  • Low oil ?

Thanks for the reply, I think that theres only the TPS and handbrake that could be the culprit although I don't think it has TPS. No sat dish, loo empty, fridge off, steps buzzes not beeps, the rest should show on dashboard ? The van in in the workshop at the moment so we'll soon see hopefully.

That might be significant, but I'm not certain why ?
So it'll be something that's powered by the alternator only.
Does it have one of those additional heating units in the cab area ?

Eureka, Finally sorted the alarm problem, It turns out that both front seats have to be lowered fully when driving, Neither Mercedes or Hymer could tell me I ended up contacting the previous owner ( which I was very reluctant to do } and he said try lowering the seats and it worked, many thanks to all of you with suggestions.

I wonder why that is, surely the adjustment is to get a comfortable driving position ?
Pleased to hear you sorted it out
