Slightly more confused than usual. It has been recommended by various electric bike specialists that an Apple AirTag is a perfect solution to add to your bike security armoury. Attach the AirTag to the bike and if the bike is stollen you can locate where it is - great. Hopefully then the authorities can get it back for you. However it seems that if the person that is riding your bike has a smart phone the device will inform them there is a gismo tracking them. Maybe that invalidates the reason for the AirTags or am I not clocking something here?

It doesn’t invalidate the original reason for Air Tags and Tiles and the like - to find your own stuff - but certainly makes detection by thieves easier but you have to weigh up the need for easy detection against the dangers of stalking.
