The Airbag ECU was changed by a previous owner in May 2020 so probably 4 k miles ago

I had to take the van in to the dealers yesterday for some warranty appraisal, only 30 mins down the motorway

After about 20 mins down the road the airbag warning came on the display, both the amber and red warning lights.

I thought here we go, wonder if this will be covered under the warranty. Then after a another 3 mins they went off.

No signs at all after that on the way home.

Is this how they fail normally?

I have not experienced the same symptoms.
I would check the connections at the airbag ecu and add an earth from the base of the ecu to chassis as a precaution.

It happened to my mate it was intermittent for a few months then finally the lights were permanently on and a new ECU was required.

Lenny have any of yours gone I’ve been out today to the van and the dreaded “Air Bags see manual” warning came on goes out after a minute or so but it repeats if ignition turned off and back on🤔had new starter battery fitted a few months back.
looks like I’m going to need the ECU replaced🙄

Neither my mate or myself have had any problems since the airbag ECU was replaced.

I thought they normally failed, by just suddenly appearing then, not going off. I didn’t think the on, then off is standard fail

My mates did that after initial tests AM thought it was another module, they ordered and fitted it but the fault came back so they then fitted a new ECU, all good & they only charged for the ECU.
