Airbag warning light Citroen relay van 2018

I know there are a lot of threads about this, but I am a bit confused due to the sheer volume of posts -
Our 2018 Euro 6 Citroen relay based van had a "Airbag warning" caption come up on the dash, along with red airbag light.
I tried connecting my iCarsoft diagnostic scanner, which shows no fault codes, but when interrorgating the airbag section, it says "no communication with ecu". I could not therefore clear any fault codes
I have tried a couple of things -
Turning ignition on and off a few times
Leaving van for few hrs then turning ign back on
Checking/reconnecting airbag sensor under drivers seat, wiring looks ok
Van battery is fine - solar panels constantly recharge battery

Any other suggestions please, or do I have to send the module off to be fixed?

PS, I am a bit loathe to disconnect the battery as I do not have a code for the radio(how do you find that out?), and do you have to reset elec windows/central locking etc after reconnecting?

There is most likely no code on the radio, many stopped doing that years ago. My 2014 van with original Fiat radio was ok.
You will need software like multiecuscan BUT that most likely won't resolve the problem but useful for doing the "proxi alignment" if you fit a new airbag ecu.
Be wary on any "repair" many reports of future failures and no guarantee from the repairer.n

As above your scanner very likely not to be of much use ,look at multiscan gendan ltd.It will more than pay for it's self on this one job especially if you end up needing a new airbag ECU (one from eBay circa £220

Thanks for replies - does the multiecuscan software/cables definitely work with Citroen Relay based vans? When I looked on Gendan website at it, there is no mention of Citroen under supported vehicles

I have multiecuscan and i am not sure so i would call Gendan if i were you and ask, they are supper helpfull

Dot have a Citroen but it does some of the boxer maybe Alphaobd if multiscan no good ?

MultiECUScan doesn't work in most Citroen modules so unfortunately you'll need to look at another software package if you want full coverage

Thanks for replies - I now have a new airbag ECU from Northern Autotech and need to get a proxy alignment done - I rang Gendan and unfortunately, multiecuscan does NOT work with Citreon based vans.
I have a iCarsoft diagnostic scanner (CP11), haven't tried it for this task yet, but don't think it will be able to do it.
I also have a Lexia diagnostic tool, which uses Diagbox PSA software - having a few problems (lots) trying to download it to my laptop, and hoping that will work - has anyone done the PA using this?
This job has turned into a nightmare! Why do newer vehicles have to be so complicated??
Need a degree in computer science!

Yep Took me a while to download it and get it working...but did manage in the end ....never heard of virtual machine before...one very important thing once installed make sure it can't get on line

Presumably not, as I assume that he will either use Multiecuscan or Diagbox to do the proxy alignment via the OBD port.
I had mine done a month or so back by a company cloning the old ecu to the new ecu off the van, as there was nobody local to me that could do the proxy alignment with the ecu in the van.

If its the same part number ( like for like)Northern can proxy align the units.ie one ecu to another. The ones he supplies cover several Fiat part numbers and require to be proxy aligned with the vehicle. In saying that its literally takes a few minutes. Just a push of a laptop key.
He doesn't need to disconnect the battery with the new ecu units. Just takes the ignition key out swaps the units over. Plugs in his laptop. Job done 20 mins tops.

Thanks I am very aware of the process having full access to multiecuscan for several years.

As there was no mention of a different part number ecu I was just surprised that it was not aligned .
