What vehicle make?
On my Peugeot boxer Elddis 195 it is under battery floor in cab towards pedals, aluminium box with two connections to it.

Here is a photo of mine. Unfortunately I took the pic to identify the detail of it not its location. In the pic the battery box is at the bottom of the pic but to the left. It is therefore mounted in the centre of the vehicle and I had to take off the base of the central console below the storage compartment.

As you mention it's just to the top right of the battery compartment between the seats as you look towards the front of the van.
Search YouTube as there are several videos on the subject.

Have to say I don't rate the " mechanic" much. I had mine out and swopped over before the wife bought my tea outside. (y)

Like many i drove mine for a while with it faulty, of course you have no air bag in case of an accident so be aware !!
Didnt see the point of removing it and driving so unsure if that would cause any other warnings or issues.

MAKE SURE you get the proper replacement, the spares company told me that some converters change them after receiving the chassis off Fiat.

Thanks i will be going away for a few days and was hoping it could be repaired while I was away that would be the reason for removing ECU module

If, God forbid, you were involved in an accident without the airbag ECU fitted and working, you might find yourself in difficulty with your insurance company.

eBay neo brothers usually list them at £160 worth emailing them(they know their stuff) or several other listings(you'll need the part numbers off the old one)

I've just had the airbag warning light come on, Hymer B444 DL. I sent the ECU off to CrashData in Liverpool on Monday, they re-set it and posted it back, it arrived this morning (Wednesday) , I've just put it back in the van and everything is back to normal. It cost £91 and I thoroughly recommend CrashData if you just want a simple re-set.

But for how long? Seen loads of people report crashdata repairs not lasting

Mine lasted over 2 years. I have now got a new FIAT airbag ecu module fitted so hopefully that should fix this annoying fault.

Starter battery beginning to get weaker is also relevant. If in doubt fit a new battery.

My airbag warning light came on while driving up the M6. I took the Hymer A Class to my local Fiat Professional garage. They ran a diagnosis (£150, maybe plus VAT!) and reset the warning. They tell me it was low voltage that caused the alarm. How can that be, the alternator is showing a 14.2 charge voltage?

Even though the Alternator is showing 14.2 it doesn't say your Starter Batt is holding charge, so that needs to be checked out. The Engine lights should always be extinguished before the Key is turned to Start Pos.

I replaced mine recently, heard some dodgy reports about crash data.
Replaced battery at same time as well.
2019 Burstner.

I cleared mine with an OBD reader. Didn't last long, came back on so eventually needed a new unit.
£150 !!! 😮😮😡😡
