So if I unplug and remove the Airbag ECU to clean the contacts as suggested, will it work again if I just plug it back in - or will it need computer input to reset it after removal ?
Cheers

Yes it will but what contacts are you cleaning? There are 3 clip on type sockets/ connections on the ecu. Just be careful you don't short anything otherwise you may blow an airbag..if you are disconnecting the ecu ,ensure you remove your battery earth and any battery master earths before you disconnect.
Best just to add another earthing point under one of the three holding down bolts but clean up the contact areas to remove paint etc . (y)

Jimbo, thanks for comments. I was told water ingress can corrode contacts, so cleaning would help.
Do you mean contacts are enclosed and hard to clean ?

Are you saying dont remove the ECU, just add a better earth to the ECU housing ?

I don't know what contacts there are in an airbag ecu.never opened one.
I had mine "repaired" and when refitted added an extra earth to one of the holding down bolts to nearer the battery earth.
Maybe someone else can advise re the internals of an airbag ecu.

I thought that if you disconnect the battery first wait a few minutes then disconnect & clean the air bag ecu it could then be reassembled in reverse order without any problems as it is already tied to the vehicle & doesn't need aligning?

There are three connections as I recall. Not sure what each one does ,but they are reasonably secure with clips/ hinged.
I did look at mine and they were sparkly clean . Sent the module off and reconnected with the additional earth., closer to the battery.
No issues since.

who did you send it to pls ?
