Good Afternoon looking fo more advise and recommendation i live in Spain and am thinking of putting air suspension on the rear of my 2009 Fiat Ducato looking at one advertised on ebay timpro si has anyone fitted these and what are they like or can recommend another company. I look forward to your reply Regards Paul

Air suspension can mean two completely different systems.

Semi air/air assist that leaves the springs/torsion bars in place and just replaces the bump stops/assistors. This is limited to the rear.

Full air. Where the entire suspension system is replaced with air bags. Can just go on the rear, but is often fitted to all wheels. Full air is 5-10 times more expensive.

Hi Paul,

I fitted Martech rear air suspension which was available on eBay. They have a range of kits whether you want a compressor, valves and gauges etc. They are specialists in this and was recommended by the engineer supervising the up weighting of my motorhome.

I fitted mine as two independent sides with pipework coming to two separate valves and gauges to allow them to be independent of each other. My kit came with a 12v pump. I ran my pipework into the rear garage area and adjust the pressure from there - rather than running it up to the front of the vehicle. I tend not to change pressures and leave it set to the ride suiting us best for comfort and load.

it was very easy to fit and doesn’t need specialist skills. A matter of removing the two existing rubber bump stops, fit the new brackets and slide the units in. I didn’t even need to jack the vehicle up to release the suspension - but I did put it up on ramps to give more working room at the year. After that it is a simple matter to run the flexible pipes and fit to the valves. I sheathed the pipework in corrugated plastic for protection. Probably a mornings work with no hitches.

Hope this is helpful.

Jim

Yes, I bought and fitted a Timpro kit to our 2013 Peugeot Boxer 3 or 4 years ago.
I got the kit with the onboard compressor and the two gauges.
Had no problems with it and well pleased with it.

I see you have an A Class so you probably have an Al-ko chassis so bag type won't do.
If you have an Al-Ko chassis you can get a DIY semi air kit for around £1500 a fair bit of work fitting it. A VB one fitted around £2500 or £4500 full air version.
If you plan on keeping the van we'll worth going for full air all round, we have it and wouldn't have a van without it now, expensive but we'll worth it, £8000 to £9000

Before you go too mad remember
A) you cannot fit it yourself.
B) The system must come with an EC homologation certificate , which last time I looked was costing an additional 190€ to the sytem cost of 480€
C) the system has to be fitted by someone who has the correct paperwork * that allows fitting to be classed as "by a professional"*
D) with both pieces of paper as above it can now be taken to an ITV station & tested & added legally to the 'ficha tecnica' If it isn't it will not pass its ITV(mot)

* Neither of these means that the fitting is in any way guaranteed to be correct, safe or decent.Just that they have the piece of paper allowing them to legally do it.
I've found far better to do it yourself & pay the bloke for his piece of paper.

Apart from quality differences, is there any difference in different makes (Dunlop v VB v Martech etc), ie any difference in ride height obtained? Or are all the bags about the same ?

I had V&B rear semi air suspension fitted to our 2022 Fiat Ducato Swift Select. I looked at stuff from eBay that was a lot cheaper but obviously I would have to fit it. Not having the tools etc i had it professionally done. I can highly recommend it whatever system you use.
