Air con

12 volt not an option unless you have a really impressive solar, inverter and batteries set up.
There's another thread running on this.

I run my AC on 6 amp ehu without any problems

To run any aircon worth having you need to be on hookup, despite all the claims they manage with loads of batteries, solar etc (think of the weight!)

I removed the aircon that came with the van as in 10 years we only ever used it in anger once - to be fair we're not regular campsite users. I replaced it with a Maxxair ventilation unit - straight swap but for finding 12v - which is used almost daily. It's not aircon but if positioned properly encourages a nice breeze which to us is just as effective. Quiet in operation, unless you use it at full power of course, and doesn't load the battery.

And I sold the aircon unit for the cost of the Maxxair.

I think a lot of vehicle mains powered ones don't have a surge on start up, soft start so to speak 👌

Look for variable speed units (called inverter units for buildings) they are quiet and smooth with no inrush, there is one called Harrier if I recall correctly🤔 I'll Google it...
