Hi my fiat Ducati 2018 airbag light came on in January had it fixed it’s now October after two weeks of layup on the drive plugged into the mains started it up and the airbag came on again won’t go off so I’ve sent it off the modulator to have it cleared wondering if I can fix a isolator switch why the vehicle is in winter storage would that be okay??? As I’m fed up paying out money to have it fixed thanks for any help

Hi welcome,

If it’s plugged into the mains then the batteries will be charged.

I think removing or simply unplugging it ( taking the appropriate precautions) is likely to be easier than installing an isolator switch.

Despite what is often said the cause of airbag ecu failure is not solely due to low voltage.
But keeping the batteries topped up and not cranking the engine over until all warning lights on the dash have gone out after switching on ( excluding oil and charging lights ) is a sensible precaution.

The addition of an earth strap from the airbag ecu and a good earth is also a good precaution.

There is also a new part number ecu available that is said to be a more stable product.

I would buy yourself a cheap OBD reader like this one,so you can read what the code is for the problem, and hopefully turn of the engine light. Sometimes the lights come on after a spike in the electrics.

Autel Autolink AL319 OBD II/EOBD Code Reader https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007XE8C74/?tag=mhf04-21

When you say you had it fixed do you mean you had a brand new one fitted?

EHU only charges the hab battery on my older VW T4 coachbuilt so I plug a Halfords charger into one of the 13amp hab sockets to charge the starter battery via the permanently live dashboard cig lighter socket.
