I have a mate who has a 2005 ducato mh. He has the dreaded air bag light on. He has been to several garages & local fiat dealer. None of them can sort or even read the problem or get a connection from his obd port. They say it’s too old.
The only air bag he has is in the steering wheel. There appears to be no connections under the drivers seat.

I’ve looked on the internet & on this site but I can’t find any info for that particular year.

Any suggestions? Located in East Sussex. It’s this type of dash.

Please come to his rescue. He can’t get MOT with it on. Surely it can’t be scrapped for this?

This could be the culprit. I had the light and got rid by fitting a new ecu.

Have you tried over on the Fiat forum?

I am sure there was someone posting the other day that he couldn’t get a standard OBD to fit?

I can ask if you get stuck?

Hi & thanks for the reply. I have looked on many forums for him, he’s not it Davy, none seem to look like what’s in his van.
By all means ask though. I’d be very grateful.

This is the short thread.

Basically, unless he can get it connected to an OBD reader, he will need to replace part by part.

They seem certain it will have a port there.

Not sure if he can even proxy align a new module unless he can connect to the OBD port so getting an airbag ECU from a scrap dealer won’t work either.

Thanks. Does anybody know where the airbag ecu/module would be located?
The starter battery is in the engine compartment & most videos I’ve seen show them under the cab floor with the ecu nearby.

Baggydave are you searching using Fiat Ducato X244 which is the series that has the dash shown and is very different to the X250 series with a BCM fitted. There appears to be a fuse for the air bag control unit that could be worth checking (fuse 50 a 7.5a which is in the passenger side dash fuse box, 5th from the right bottom row)
I think the ecu may be in the cab area on the floor on the left of the clutch pedal.
www.northernautotech.co.uk may be able to help further with information about the ECU location etc along with testing/repair if needed

Is the warning lamp easier to get at and remove?
Mike.
Oh I wish. The pod appears to be sealed we have tried prising apart but don’t want to damage it. Seems sealed for life? Another friend wired his to ignition light & got it through mot. But this is a different cluster.

Brilliant. I’ll pass on the info & check the fuse. Thank you
