Good afternoon,
I had a pioneer dab radio fitted by the dealer when new in 2019 and it was rubbish
So for Xmas I go a basic pioneer dab and today removed and refitted minus a speaker cable as it had nowhere to go !
Then out of nowhere it said check airbag handbook !
Anyone know about this and how to resolve it ! The pic is of the speaker if that what it is
Thankyou !

Did you disconnect the battery. Apparently Airbag controller doesn’t like low power.

No I didn’t ,as it was a straight swap !
How do I reset it ? Disconnect the battery as start again ?

It's the mic for hands free when using your phone.

I expect the Airbag fault is just coincidence, common fault it the airbag lights are on you will probably need a new Airbag ECU.

w2f and also:WelcomeFlag: to the air bag failure club

Air bag fault quite possibly not related to your swap.

There are loads of topics on here about the Fiat air bag controller failures.

Your immediate task is to make sure that your starter battery is fully charged and holding a charge. With that done your fault may clear itself.

If not, the vehicle can be driven (with no airbags). Seat belts will still work and you will do no further harm. It will not pass the MOT.

If it is fully connected to steering wheel controls you may need to do a proxy alignment to reset the CANbus module details

Along shot but you haven’t caught a wire under seats whilst turning them around etc ,
to gain more access room whilst changing radio ?

I’ve just had mine replaced at £510 not cheap if the ECU has gone and from others on the forum who had it repaired it does not last long so an even more expensive way so just replace it But it will need proxy alignment.😊

If you're going down the repair route there's plenty on ebay that do it and cheaper than crashdata. A lot of them have 100% feedback. Just search "Fiat ducato airbag ecu". At least if it doesn't work its only cost £55 or less if you make them an offer. Better than crashdata prices.
Had mine done on ebay a few months back and it's been fine so far 🤞

But you only know if it’s working when you need it and in my book thats a big risk as you can’t tell whether the eBay repairers are genuine🤔

Read their feedback. Lots of satisfied customers. At the end of the day you pay your money and you take your chance, wether its on ebay or crashdata or any others that do it. Crashdata are not perfect. My view was I could gamble £55 with someone who had 100% feedback, before paying out £500 for a new one. I might add, I added an earth from the ecu to the chassis and replaced the engine earth as well. After reading about other funsters ordeals on here. 👍

What I would say though to anyone thinking of sending their module off for repair is to take a picture of it, so if it gets lost in the post at least you know the model number and what it looks like.

They might be only satisfied cos the lights gone out, they maybe haven’t found out yet whether all the safety stuff works😉
It didn’t even cross my mind to do anything other than go to the professionals and have a new one fitted and proxy re aligned🤷‍♂️👍

I've just had my 2019 one fixed by Omega on eBay
£55 all in -- and there and beck within a week.
He did include this note if its helpful to anybody.

I won't be fitting it back in until the MOT is due:drinks:

Hi

I received your module on Wednesday. I processed it last night and will be dispatched today. On another note this module was one of them more difficult ones which wouldn't respond too the usual clearing of the B0100 fault. When that does that it usually indicates that its starting to fail much more frequently. And the only option is to purchase a new one. , but as fiat haven't repaired this fault on the brand new modules it can and will happen again.

Regards
Adam
