Advice please - Lyon to Venice

Planning a trip in May 2025 and one section causing me a little concern is Lyon to Venice. It looks like you can head North towards Geneva and the A4 or take the A34 through Chambery and pick up the A4 later on.

I've never driven down that way so have no idea about tunnels, snow, Tolls, etc. The main objective is just to get there safely, if possible in daylight - so any thoughts or advice gratefully accepted 👍🏻

I can tell you we went from Montgenevre to Trieste in a day on Italian tolls which were only about 45 quid 8 or 9 years ago. We were parked up right on the Italian/French border and, owing to it raining all day it wasnt a bad journey at all once we got onto those tolls
