as suggested by cyberyacht - its exactly what i have done - and i used the type of mounts that a few funsters decry ! as with anything, its about preparation and doing the job correctly - i did learn a useful tip from here re drilling holes in the brackets and allowing the adhesive to mushroom through - be usre you use tile spacers and dont try to squeeze all the adhesive out - lots of posts on here offering advice.

as to the 'roof rack' - on our Adria we have a roof rail fitted around the edges of our roof and a rear ladder on the back. so perhaps thats worth considering?

Don't follow what you mean, are you putting solar over the roof vents? Why would you do that?

This is our Coral, I have bonded 2 panel to the roof on appropriate feet. 1 Been there 7 to 8 years the smaller added 2 years ago. Just make sure you use the correct bonding adhesive and well prepared surfaces

Why not just bond the panels to the roof with sikaflex?
Not enough room , I would have dun that but the vents and other obstructions will not allow me to fit the size of panel I need ...

You must either have a p I’ll le B of stuff already on the roof or you want to fit a panel larger than any single space you have.
If it’s the latter it may still be easier to fit more than 1 panel.

I was looking over slim panels that may be the solution , rather than the larger 300watt one , thanks Phill

The 2 on the roof in my photo are 140w and 100w with room for another 100w the opposite side of the rear roof light. To be added in the near future. ( 340w total)

i have also split my panels. i have 2 x 100w and enough room for 1 x 50w, however i decided to get a foldable panel of 150w (with its own controller) - i alos have an 80cm motorised sat dish though!

really considering removing the status aerial and flat mounting my starlink in the future, but i have enough jobs going on at the moment.

yes i did,
The roof is spotless in the photo as i had just de-gunged it after collecting baked on tree sap! under a few trees for shade  rained sap then high temperatures for the remainder of the trip.
i had to remove and replace the solar panels to fully clean and polish the roof. took a week! wont be doing it again in a hurry.

fitting the panels is straight forward enough, but do a bit of research on the fittings you use and the relevant adhesive, and make sure the area to be fixed to i.e under the feet is abraded and treated with activator. also do not squeeze out all the adhesive under the feet. i used 2mm wall tile spacers 1 nder each foot to ensure i had the recommended amount of sikaflex adhesive under each foot.
i aslo used mid panel brackets to minimise any lift at 70mph  and reduce the pressure on the other mountings.

the scary bit is putting a hole in the roof for the cables and entry gland. I used an entry gland which clamped through the roof section with a seal lid to get access for threading the cables.

there is loads of info on the forum regarding fitting panels and which / what solar controller etc. you will also find differing opinions on which and what is best, :giggle: but thats life ;)

hope that helps

Phill
