Just had renewal breakdown with arrival rac ,it had gone up by £100 , i requested that they remove suzuki off as i sold it last january,so it was just transit, and a caravan, whilst on phone i noticed smallprint that said administration fee £99 i was gobsmacked, plus it was automatic renewal,i only rang because the suzuki was no longer needing cover,is it just me or is admin fee ridiculously expensive?

If it’s like the AA a third party insurance covers your call outs and the admin fee is want AA put on top to cover their costs, profit etc.

Makes me mad having to call them every year when they increase it, this year by £60, only to agree to continue at least year price.

Assuming it's just renewed cancel it, you should have 14 days to get a full refund, then you can take out a new policy and avoid the amendment fee.

£99 - good grief.

Yesterday I changed my van (big Whoo-Hoo, proper post about that later :roflmto: )
My previous campervan was insured with Caravan Guard, and the policy expires in 11 months time.

They charged me £10 additional premium and £15 administration fee, and the staff are lovely to deal with.

that said administration fee £99
This is where it has all gone wrong.Brokers used to work for you in providing the best insurance & received their commission from the policy provider. Now they are charging "fees" to there actual customers as well as receiving commission they are basically scamming .

Thanks minxy i might do that ,ive just dealt with two banks and an unpaid pension of deceased uncle today so am a bit shellshocked having to do a two hour round trip to pay funeral directors as bank would only pay a cheque (so delivered it by hand cos i think funeral people thought it would be sent electronically and i must admit so did i) gawd i just hate using the phone and listening to music and advice to go on internet all our lines are busy at the moment.... blah blah thats my moan over 🥸

Just added a driver to my van ins, extra premium £6.61...........admin charge £35 to press a few keys.

I have to because I forgot to renew my house insurance one year - for a whole year:oops:
We did too.

Many years ago our House &Contents were insured through the Littlewoods Catalogue company for about 4 consecutive years. They always sent us annual reminders.

They then decided to drop the whole insurance side of their business and didn’t bother to tell their existing customers.

In our case it was 9 months before we realised that we were no longer covered as our last policy had expired.

We tend to put a note on the phone for a few weeks before anything is due. so any auto renewals can be stopped. I saved £20 by doing one auto renewal, but changed to another company at the end of the year.

Van insurance is now with NFU, no admin fees, for changes, cancellations etc
