Has anyone added the hab door to the Fiat cab central locking ? Its a Hartal door which I believe is also fitted to Carthago etc who I guess have central locking on the hab door as well.
I’m sure someone must have done it. TIA

I've had my hab door with central locking apart. I think the door latch mechanism is a Fiat part transplanted from sliding door of a panel van.

The fun you might have is getting the 4 wires in that power the locking and detect the state of the door. Some vans just run the wires through a flexible conduit. Mine uses some spring contacts that touch when the door is closed. Both methods are known to fail.

I was hoping it was a case of just adding a motor to the lock mechanism and connecting that into the central locking circuit of the cab doors ! Or is it way more complicated ?

It probably depends on what's there already. If there's wires going into the door, your loom might well be connected. It might just be a case of getting the mechanism from a breakers and hooking it up. Not sure if the van's ECU needs to be told that it's got a door? 🤷‍♂️

Yes I have done it but on a A class did hab and cab door I had to pick up the signal from body connector at the bottom of the door pillar, in my case the signal pulse provided was just single pulse so had to make up relays to pulse on one wire (open) then change to another to close.
You might not have that problem as you already have solenoids fitted to the cab door, I fitted a spring connection to make the door contact then drilled a long hole thro the door for the wires and fitted a solenoid it's worked perfectly for 3 years now of the fiat key fob.

Relay set up to switch signal to open then close the solenoid

Spring contact I used to connect from door to body.

Don’t forget that if you have the full central locking system your doors may auto lock if you don’t open a cab door. No good if you’ve got in the Hab door and left the keys on the bed like a guy in the storage yard did last week. The door slammed behind him and it cost him £30 to go home in a taxi for the spare keys.

Thanks for that info will have a deeper look into sourcing the parts.
