Adblue

It’s synthetically manufactured. I had an awful fuss trying to fill from a plastic container. Got it all over my hands so I can tell you it doesn’t smell or burn. ?

It’s a pain in the word it but filling at a pump is much easier. Motorhome is going to use it more quickly than a car I guess. Mine is a 20 litre tank. I have driven to Switzerland. Full when I set off. Took 17 litres when I got here to fill it back up. I don’t drive hard. Generally between 80 and 90 km/hr on the highways. Mine is a 3 litre Iveco 8 speed auto

My Mercedes motorhome has an AdBlue gauge. Just a matter of going up and down on the information screen. When it gets a bit below half I tip a 10l container in. Gauge doesn't update as you fill but seems to do so after restarting.

By the way, what happens if you overfill? Manual says don't do it and garage and dealer said this as well.

I think the capacity is 18 litres. I filled up with a full 10 litre when the warning came on at 1/4 full and it took me (slowly) to just above 3/4. Took a while for the warning to go out. Pain in the arse filling position for an A Class

Is this just a Mercedes thing. Never heard about adding AdBlue before?

No it is also found on some Peugeot motorhomes and I think the 2020 Fiats will have it too. It is all about NOX emissions and the new testing standard coming in from 01/09/19, Euro 6D. Until now Fiat have got away with a non AdBlue system.

Thanks. I have Euro6 but bought Nov 2017 so guess I don't have the AdBlue system.

My MH is not adblue but my 4 yr old Audi requires it. When the engine management system tells me the adblue is low I find a main dealer and hand over my keys?. I am served with free coffee, WiFi and newspapers. I browse the latest Audi vehicles and annoy the salesmen (that’s always fun!) the cost is about the same as buying adblue and a coffee in Cafe Nero!
I quite look forward to the light coming on!

Negotiable, but depends if you end up buying a new car. and it depends on the cost of coffee:D2 and why else you buy in Aldi ?

We have a Bailey on a Peugeot chassis the tank holds 15 litres when the low light warning comes on you have enough for 1500 miles so no rush to fill up, so just call any garage that sells it most garages do, go to the Adblue pump they are universal car, truck, MH.
It could be a lot cheaper and no messing with messy con and pipes and funnels

That’s cheap for 10 litres, the best I’ve done is £12 from a garage near Arnold in Nottinghamshire and that’s almost 3 years ago.
The bottles are heavy and invariably spill a bit on your shoes , trousers etc and then crystallises to a white deposit. It’s ok though as the bloke with the ideas ( my boss ) doesn’t have to do it so it doesn’t affect him.

Sorry when I say cheaper I’m in Europe 46 p to 78 p a litre and no spillage I don’t know about price in uk

To give some idea of real price of the product, we sell Ad Blue for £300+vat for 1000 litres and make a margin

We are currently paying 25p/litre from a pump.............but it is from a large haulier who is our sole customer and also supplies fuel.
