Just had an email asking for this years fee, as they have a fault so that they could not automatically collect the fee.
Anyone else had this?
Worried about scams

We just buy the books when on our journey South don’t bother with annual membership.

I had an email from them. It is not for the books it is for an acsi ID card to be used at the campsites for proof of personal details in lieu of a passport

I have the ID card but you can renew when you need I never get a reminder😊 to be honest I don’t think I’ve needed to use it anywhere and we have been on regular winter trips to Spain,Portugal and through France.😊

Yes, I got it too. It was in the junk folder, so not sure of it. I think I'll hold off clicking on the payment link. It is for the books, not the ACSI ID card. The payment link does not mention ACSI. But it could be as a result of Brexit, have checked our bank account, and cannot find any payment going through, so it could be legit.

Have just phoned the number on the email, they answered as ACSI, said it was legit, apologies, just pay on the link and it will be OK next year. But cynically, they would say that if it were a scam, wouldn't they!

I'm sorry, but I thought you get the books, and part of the books (Part 2?) is the ID card. Do some people just get an ID card? Or do some people get the books without the ID card?

The ID card is different to the card you get with the books. The ID card can in theory be used instead of a passport for ID on a campsite but doesn’t give you the ACSI discount although often it will! Very confusing I know but if you look on the website they are separate so you can buy both.

I've only ever got the books and used the ID card from them. Been to loads of French campsites and never been asked for either my or the wife's passport. Must be my honest face!

I'm pretty sure its legit, and its for the books/app.
Our books arrived end of last year as normal and the usual charge went out on the credit card mid-December but was refunded a couple of days later. I then got an email in February to say they'd had problems and can I please enter a payment card.

The Acsi ID card also gives you a bit of insurance whilst on the campsite or in a hotel. I wouldn’t buy one but I think you used to get one free with C&CC if you bought their insurance packages . I know we had a free one once.

The card that’s in the book is not ID it’s just a discount card. The membership card is a camping carnate that can be used instead of leaving your passport in campsite receptions.😊
As you will see it will have your passport number on it😊

I got the books and then later a request for card details due to a fault at their end. Checked and it was legit.

They have just taken payment for my books which arrived in December so I suspect as others have said it is more than likely legit.

Be careful with ACSI demands for unpaid subscriptions to be paid. I don't think they are scams, I think that it is simply that ACSI and its payment systems are a shambles.

I renewed subscription and ID card at end 2020, the ID card payment went through ok but it seems that the subscription payment didn't. It never appeared on my credit card statement, and I got a reminder in early May. So I paid it then. Then I got another ACSI email saying pay up or sub will be cancelled. So I sent them evidence from the statement proving payment, Apologies etc, everything ok, and then 20 minutes later another email from another ACSI employee saying that I had not paid, etc etc.

The rule with ACSI is always to cheque your credit card statements, and don't believe what they say.

ACSI seems worth it for the ID card to avoid leaving passports on sites, and for the discount card. But it all seems to be a lot of grief. They do not make it easy to contact them either.
