I saw on one of the new Hymer brochures they have an optional cab bed storage system. We use ours to store the recliner chairs. Just wondered what weight limit there will be in the up stored position.

Unfortunately you have to take the mattress out first! An either or but the weight of the matress should be easy to establish.

The weight of the mattress is de minimis compared to two bodies, at a conservative 150kg, sleeping up there, plus the mattress.

Geoff
You misunderstand I think. Using the cab overhead bed for storage I presume would be when the bed is in the up position. When it’s down the weight is taken by the pillars both sides so the mattress is the key weight. It is also a counter balance so important not to overload the storage area.

Ours is a struggle to latch closed when the duvet is rucked up too much. There's really not much of a gap up there.

Maybe yours is different from our N&B because we have no 'pillars'

We have exactly what are talking about and contacted Hymer for a quote on the drop down bed storage boxes. Was gobsmacked to be told about £300 but that's Hymer for you.
Bought under bed soft storage cases off Amazon for £20 a set of 3.
Removing the mattress gives a total permitted weight of 21kg according to Hymer.
Great way and place to store lighter items

That was exactly what I was referring to. We are not going haul and store a king size mattress anytime soon.

Hymer have been selling these for a few years now. I was interested but the price put me off a bit.

Has anybody here fitted these? We have Froli plastic springs fitted to our drop down bed and wonder whether these have to be removed as well as the mattress.

Looking at our drop-down bed we would struggle to get the depth needed for storage if we also had the Froli system fitted so would need to be removed as well as the mattress

<Broken link removed> is stated to be 100mm high. That is the thickness of our mattress, so the organiser would be no higher than the mattress it replaced. In addition if you look at the photos in the link I have posted you will see that the organiser is higher than the bed surround, and that is the same as the mattress.

Yes we also took the mattress out, but to be fair the weight was minimal. We get away with the recliners(4kg
each) and some slimline boxes with teeshirts/tops in, possibly 10/15 kg max.
