I'm New!
Hi, As some of you know I had work done on the van a few weeks ago which I was really disappointed with, they then let the van freeze.

Its been back in and had the split pipes replaced, as well a tap that failed from the freeze. They also admitted the gas pipe they installed was out of date and replaced it (not with standing the fact it should have been done in copper, I'd resigned myself to getting that sorted elsewhere)

I go to collect it today to be told the boilers not working. Won't power up. I know it was working the day I took it in, I was using the heating happily. After some arguing they said they would look at the boiler but won't pay for any parts if it needs them. Despite the fact they would have had to remove it to do any work on the split pipe.

At this point I've just removed the van from storage and walked away. Twice its been in and come away with more damage, And I'm about £800 down now from storage costs and the initial work and I have a van that in a much worse state. I feel like them trying to fix it will just cause more damage.

In the short Term, anything obvious to Check on Truma Combi 4 (Gas only 2010) There is no power to the control and its just dead. Heater fuse checked and that's fine.

I'm really upset, were a family in our 30's this was our biggest investment ever and we are 100's of pounds down and just seemingly can't get catch a break.

I'm not sure now where to find the money to get it sorted. Just wish I'd done the work myself from the start, I've just finished building a house, so very practically capable, having work done on this was meant to be treat for me and piece of mind on the gas work.

Have you checked both the glass 10 amp fuse on the PCB and that the boiler is actually getting 12v to it.

Its an EBL267 so I've check the fuse marked Heater, which is a 10 amp blade, should I be looking for another one?

I'll grab a multimeter tonight, mines out of action, but I can borrow one later on.

Just looking at wiring diagram there are two ports for the controller, I might check its not in the wrong one if there can be such a thing?

That's very sad - and a little unlucky. However, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Given the time of year, I would have drained everything down before taking it anywhere for repairs.

I'm not sure where you are but there is bound to be a funster nearby who can help.

I would offer but I am not sure that nodding, sucking of teeth and scratching at my nose and head would be much help.

Unless you intend taking legal action you can always name and shame the people who claim they have repaired - or leave an honest review so people know who to avoid.

Unfortunately it was missing its drain valve, that's why it was in for repair.

Yes there are two glass fuses on the boiler pcb which is under the plastic black cover on the boiler itself from memory they have blue and orange rings on them.🤔

You hero! you inspired me and I just went to have a deeper prod at the connection on the actual unit (Not easy as its tight to the wall) The control cable was in but not had its final click home.

Still now need to test everything.

Its powering up and heating, I've just set the water to 60 and I'm going to leave it for a while. Fingers Crossed

Next to look at making good all the Gas work. Any recommendations for an engineer in the North West/South Lakes

No sorry but someone should be able to help. Glad to hear you have corrected there fault. Makes you wonder why they never tested it themselves after having to remove it to rectify there own faults?

Yeh, they stood blaming me, basically saying it must have been broken when I brought it in.

Although its now running I just can't bring my self to take it back there even for storage.

I think you should write to them, point out that they said the boiler was broken and tell them that their “technician” had failed to reconnect, properly, the control cable that they had obviously removed on their previous work.
I would also tell them that you intend to name and shame them on every part of social media you have access to.
Perhaps won’t help you but at least you will feel better, if they threaten you by saying if you publicise their mistakes they will take legal action, I would respond by saying I would welcome it, the more bad publicity the better.
It really winds me up when these sort of people insult your intelligence.

I have hot water! A real burning smell though as I got up to 60, not sure of that's something to be concerned about, looking at other thread it seems common.
