Hopeing for a bit of local knowledge for the above. My sister is driving from Welwyn Garden City tomorrow bringing my Mum home to Cumbria, to save her a long journey thought we would offer to meet her halfway. We will both be travelling by car and not sure how bad the traffic will be so looking for a safe place to change over but where it's ok to park for a while if one of us is delayed. Mum uses a wheelchair so need both cars parked same side of motorway. Don't want to travel far from A1 so neither of us get lost.

Try either Mainsgill Farm Shop or Cross Lanes Organic Farm Shop on the A66 just west of Scotch Corner. Both have shops (obviously) but also cafes. Cross Lanes is smaller and quieter. Both have good carparks and both are on the south side of the A66.

Thank you Debs and Peter & Elaine will look into which services look best, just wanted to make sure access to services from North & South side. A66 Farm Shops not suitable as not half way between Welwyn Garden City and Cumbria.

Doncaster outlet, large car park food outlets shops, about 3 miles form a1/m18 junction....east side

off at a1 j35 onto m18 east off at m18 j3 follow signs for outlet village......swap over repeat

I would second Ferrybridge, old school services with plenty of parking and seems a popular spot for exchanging people and other things.

That's the route I take but you're right, I suppose most people wouldn't. Hope the trip & the transfer go well!

Ferrybridge and if you are early theres a greggs. Just watch the parking time limit if you are waiting or could get expensive.

On the same roundabout as Ferrybridge services is Wandahome caravan centre you are not worrying about length of wait and something to browse. You could then swop there or travel to Ferrybridge services.

Ferrybridge is approx 15-20 mins north of Doncaster. If you want something nearer to Donny I would suggest Blyth Services just south of the A1.M18 intersection.
