Clearing unwanted pictures from my mobile phone, I came accross about a dozen pictures taken in Norway, where we have never been and of people we have never seen before. The pictures were in chronological order taken just after an MHF rally in Topsham. The only clue was my laptop said it did not recognise their format, although it showed the photographs. I do not take many pictures and rarely use the phone, which has never left me. Anyone with ideas? For I have none. The phone I had new a couple of years ago, the Sim card is the original that I cracked out of the packet.

If you use WhatsApp then there is/was a setting where photos from chats automatically downloaded to your phone clogging up your stream.

Alternatively as Clivefog said you may have had them airdropped accidentally by Bluetooth.

Yep, as Grianan has said, if someone was trying to send photos to a friend who was nearby you at the time, they may have sent them to you by mistake if your phone is set to accept airdropped items without checking for your permission each time. Nothing sinister. Just delete them and change your airdrop settings so it can’t happen again.

I wondered where hundreds of pics of campsites and the like were on my phone until I realised they were the Campercontact files.

I had photos of an old lady in a wheelchair appear on my iphone today. Not known to me so goodness knows where it came from

I picked up "my" phone last week and said to my son "how did this picture of you and Helen get on my phone?"
"Perhaps it's because that's my phone" was the reply.
