A photo of the day thread

As many of you know I visit the gym most days. Yesterday the pool was unheated as the thermostat was broken. Saturday is a very busy day with up to 80 guests, Hen Parties, Spa Days etc, so a broken pool is a disaster!

So when needs must an imaginative solution is required!

So;

I do wonder how long it took to warm the pool, but it had worked :)

By Jove what a lovely day missus.

What a lovely day for driving up to Formby Point and finding prehistoric human footprints in the exposed ancient clay beds. They're estimated to be between 4,000 and 7,000 years old.

Broken Link Removed

Below is a separate set made by a smaller individual than above. Multiplying the foot length by 7 gives an approximate height - in this case about 4' 8", so maybe an older child.

Broken Link Removed

How do we know they're not made by modern holiday makers? They're overlain by another clay layer that has been scientifically dated to the late Stone Age. Extinct animal tracks have also been found.

Meanwhile further down the coast at Crosby illegal migrants can be seen making their way ashore from a passing container ship. Either that or Anthony Gormley's statues are trying to do a post-referendum bunk to somewhere nicer :)

Never seen a pic with the tide in around them - looks a bit eerie

Two archaeological researchers working a few yards further down the beach were quite chuffed with them when I pointed them out, so sorry to disappoint you there. ;)

Neither am I in the habit of wading barefoot across wet clay in February :)

A Squacco Heron and an Otter if you can find him there were four all together.
Taken on Donâna near El Rocio today

Went a run in the van to keep everything turning over as its about 300mm to high to fit in the garage, need to build another :( Stopped off at Stromness campsite and had a coffee while watching the ferry Hamnavoe come in then went for a walk around the coast for a few mile.

Mi won a bottle of bubbly for best dressed at a 1920's dance we went to at the weekend.

Sunset near Plymouth this evening. Note the anvil shaped clouds. This shape of cloud is usually associated with thunderstorms but none were forecast. Curious, I must dig out my book of clouds. :)

Rundu, Namibia.
Namibia this side of the river (Kavango), Angola on the far side. What you can't see in the pic is that it's all about 3000 feet above sea level.
Will be crossing the border sometime tomorrow.
