After 3 weeks of being at home, we decided it was about time we used the van again, after all, we did not buy it to leave it sitting outside. So we bought some provisions, loaded the van, and we are now in San Felipe on the northern coast of our island around 80km from home. It's a camping site right on the coast with all services except electricity, €7,49 a night. We arrived with 100% battery power (obviously) but the sun is not shining and we had to cook lunch. So I prepared some ribs (as one does) and my world famous air fryer roasties using the 'fryer' during almost an hour between the potatoes and the ribs. Batteries dropped to 80%. No sunshine, but it was still daytime and the batteries managed to get up to 92% then it started raining (yes, rain, in the Canaries). Now charging the laptop and a couple of phones, so back to 80%. But the ribs were lovely, the potatoes too, and the wine was sublime. So who cares? Have a great week you lot, love you all 😂 🍷🍷

Who have you upset on the Forum or has a Funster sent you an early Christmas present, plants should grow well after a little bit of rain. 😄

Are you in some sort of quarantine there? I’m sure once they get to know they’ll invite you to join in all the fun. Have a good trip and hope the weather improves for you - I guess at least it’s warm rain. We’ve been back from Spain a couple of weeks and still missing the longer days and the sunshine.

"...and my world famous air fryer roasties "

Is there a recipe/method post somewhere, perhaps ?
Hmmm .. ?
All right, I'll let you into the fold Nigel Crompton , but please don't tell anyone.
Equipment: one air fryer, one teaspoon, one larger spoon for moving around (not you, rather the potatoes).
Ingredients for 2 people: 2 or 3 large potatoes, one teaspoon of dried garlic, one teaspoon of dried onion (flakes?), a few pinches of Maldon sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, a good squirt of extra virgen olive oil.
Cut up the potatoes into small squares 2-3cm. Toss in olive oil, salt, garlic, onion and black pepper in a large bowl until thoroughly coated.
It is better if you preheat the air fryer for a few minutes, but I don't usually bother to be honest, I just shake the spuds around every 5 minutes. So that's up to you.

Add the potatoes to the air fryer basket and set to 190ºC for 20 minutes. You need to shake them around every now and again so they go crispy. Once done you can keep them in a bowl while you cook some ribs for example, and them throw them back into the basket and give them 3 minutes @ 200ºC to crisp them up.

Buen provecho, as they say in these parts.

Pah, i just spent that on a glass of red wine at the Grimsdyke hotel in Harrow..

And I can't see anything out my window because its dark..
My bed is big enough for 4 in this suite, I've got room service on tap, yet for some reason, I think you have the better deal...

I'm in the same predicament, no air fryer plus, from the picture, the ingredients look awfully oily, I thought air fryers were supposed to use VERY little oil? 😄

It's all a scam yer know 😄

Of course it is. Air fryers fry nothing. Air fryers are small convection ovens. Air fryers use an awful lot of battery power, albeit they are quicker due to their size, so that is probably cancelled out. Air fryers are convenient in the van due to their small size.

We parboil our roasties, drain and back into pan to dry them.
add some Avocado oil. Stir to distribute the oil.
Into the airfryer they go at 160 for first 10 minutes then 180 until cooked.
Have used beef dripping, olive oil, goose fat.
All acceptable but we find Avocado oil suits us best.

Induction they are not.I
They have a simple radiant coil and a fan to move the heated air around.

Should have mentioned. Do our oven chips by a similar method.
Peel and chips your tatties.
Bring pan of water to the boil.
Put chips in, bring back to just boiling.
Take off heat.
Leave in water for 5 to 7 minutes depending on chip size.
Drain, back in pan to dry. Add Avocado oil, shake to coat.
Hoy into hairdryer at 160 for 10 minutes then 180.
Turn up to 200 if necessary to crisp up.
Superb.
