I sometimes back Kickstarter and Indiegogo projects and this one popped into my inbox today.

It's an ultrasonic cleaning system called Sonic Soak for clothes and other belongings.
At $230 it's a bit expensive for me to back but others here might like to look into it.

Having already raised $1,213,438 USD total funds raised and9548% funded on December 9, 2017 it has proven to be very popular.

Well my sonic toothbrush works (y) so you never know... I can't see it replacing a washing machine mind.

Large Ultrasonic baths are used extensively as a part of the decontamination process of surgical instruments. It is a very effective method for the removal of prions.

Don't know what prions are but my ultrasonic bath doesn't half clean mechanical parts. And PC boards. And tools. Everything really.

Looks great,, clever people,,,

Hi Ian the builder
Prions,
It’s not being clever,,,, but It may be worth for you to Google it before you visit the dentist or go through any medical/surgical procedure.
Cheers Colin

You can already get a sonic jewellery cleaner and also one for spectacles ... no idea if they are any good though!

Just read up on prions ... wish I hadn't ... never going out again ... nor letting anyone in

I bought the ultrasonic cleaner on special offer at Lidl. :) Quite handy, but the instructions need careful reading because there are sections with WARNING of material damage! regarding jewellery and spectacles. It also does CDs / DVDs and shaving heads. Not suitable for cleaning mechanical watches. Use with care. Only needs clean tap water, but you can also use some cleaning fluids.

It doesn't really suit cleaning small engine parts or other MH oily bits.

Like the idea of it as a portable washing machine especially but details do say not for heavy fabrics like denim. If buying 4 it can be as low as $99 each so if enough clubbed together to make one large order the price could be much more reasonable?!

Something tells me I shouldn’t Colin!! Lol

Not sure how new an idea it is as doing a search it may be clever marketing for a product already on sale at a much cheaper price http://www.kickstarterforum.org/scam-sonic-soak-available-on-taobao-t7873.html
However these cheaper ones on sale could be an earlier version as they do state that they launched their earlier models in China - who knows?

Does looks like an interesting product & worth looking out for genuine reviews.

I have a small "proper" industrial ultrasonic cleaner, I put a tarnished silver sixpence I'd metal detected into it, it left the coin with a matt finish, under a microscope it had millions of tiny craters in it, yet on some other items, it barely makes any difference to them. Haven't tried it on my grundies yet though.

So best not clean the dog with it then?

Notwithstanding the benefits of Sonic Soak, can I introduce you to an alternative. That is; The wife and the 'Copper Posser' . It cleans the clothes and tones the wife, all at the same time ! although she

now beats me at arm wrestling.

Apart from the resistance to putting an electrical device in water followed by my hands
I got as far as " You will receive your item within 30 days of the end of our successful campaign
if it fails I take it you get nowt :Eeek:
over a million quid and they aint sorted it yet:doh:

It's true but I've had only one of probably 10 campaigns that I supported that didn't proceed and they even gave me my money back.

You should look at it not as a shop where you walk out with a product but more of a donation (pledge) towards innovation for which, as a thank you, you receive a hugely discounted gift (normally the finished product at about half price). I had another one delivered earlier this week. I'll share the info with all those who subscribe to my blog at www.ourmorelolife.com - it's motorhome related and really cool actually!
