A frames and towcars

Just a question not really in line with the thread, how do you reverse, these towed cars, is it like reversing a two wheel trailer, where you steer the opisate way to reversing your van or is it like reversing a four wheel trailer, not a lot to do with the thread but always wondered.
Only asking as we do a lot of trailer work with tractors and know how difficult it is with 4 wheeers, must be a nightmare on some narrow roads, but then again I suppose if it really came down to it you would have to unhook it.
Simple answer is, you don't.

It is possible to reverse very slowly for a short distance in a perfectly straight line, ideally reversing down hill, but if you attempt to turn, left or right, the front wheels of the Toad will follow the camber of the road until they are at right angles to the motorhome then start to scrub rubber.

If you need to reverse, get out, unhitch, move the toad, move the van, then rehitch.

I tow a purpose purchased Diahatsu Terios with a Car A Tow A frame. I use a towball mounted bike rack, which simply goes on the Terios tow ball when we want bikes and car

I bought the Terios as it has a section in the handbook about "what to do when towing on a A Frame" as it is a popular A Framed car choice in the States so would present any warranty issues

As others said, wouldn't tow in Europe nowadays too much legal hassle and wouldn't want to be involved in an accident in a Country where towing a car with another vehicle is a car

We tend to use our eBikes so much now we rarely consider taking the car as it is a pain not being able to go backwards so is extremely limiting when your just meandering around

Another vote for the Peugeot 107. Great little car on and off the van. We have a tow tal A frame and as others have said, it is a heavy bit of kit. Ours has a jockey wheel so it
can be detached and driven away with the frame on the car until you’re ready to remove it. Makes the arrival on site a bit easier. A reassuringly solid bit of kit which does the job well and very simply. It also has the Alko hitch. If you want a lighter A frame you’ll need to look at electronic braking variants.

Had towacar fitted at home yesterday!

Excellent, waiting for a date for them to fit my tow bar.

We had Tow Bars to Tow Cars system retro fitted to our 2019 VW Polo. I drove the car to Grimsby on day one and was kindly loaned a TOAD to return home. Following day drove the Motorhome to Grimsby with their TOAD behind and picked up our Polo. Nice neat job, car tows well so very pleased. Before we bought our Polo I contacted Terry Richardson TB2TC and he advised me as to what they could and couldn’t convert. We went for the Polo (manual without keyless ignition) as it suited us better than some of the more usual TOADs. If you have a detachable tow ball fitted with two bolts, it is possible to fit a bike rack mount between the ball and hitch mount. Not sure which make it is but think Thule?
My wife has a 2016 VW Polo and we were looking at having a tb2tc system installed. We were quoted c£2700 and it would take 2 days. Does this sound correct in your experience?

The RVi system looks good. I don’t think they currently have a UK dealer. Did you import yours from the USA?

Hi there..yes we did . Kev got in touch with them direct and bought it in for us. Imported including taxes £600 roughly. We have the receipt somewhere ?
The Rvi3 is now available and somewhat dearer. That. aside...it really works well.

Yes, the Polo is a vehicle which requires additional work so the figure is about what we paid.

TB2TC has a family member living in Spain. They were apparently challenged by a Roads Police vehicle and refused to pay the ’on the spot cash fine’ and demanded to go to the local Police Station. “Sorry sir have a nice day”.

Toawaframe is between £2600 and £3100 Depending on version, they did my Argo on the drive in 7 hours!

Thank you. It does look a good system.
