Hi I'm a new member, I found your site while negotiating the "A" frame towcar nightmare.
If anybody has a cheapy (no frills) small car fitted with a legal compliant "A" frame for sale in/near (100 miles) Bournemouth please contact me.
We're (beloved and me) new to Motorhomes 1996 Auto Sleeper last outing was our fourth so learning all the time.
Looking forward to chatting on this site

Thanks Steve - I'm told nearly 2 tonne - a Fiat 500 for example comes in at about 960 to 13.30 Kg so even with the kitchen sink loaded should have plenty of spare unless I tow the Rolls
The motorhome is Ford Transit Regards Barrie (Bazwos) Barrie already taken

You should have the maximum train weight on your VIN plate.

That’s the base vehicle weights, you should have an Autosleeper plate somewhere

Thanks Manic Brill info.
Next question please does anybody with a 1996 Auto Sleeper Amethyst or similar know where an this plate may be. The Ford plate I found eventually under carpet in the Passenger Foot Well

Your van is relatively short and narrow. My personal suggestion would be to try without a tow car for a few more trips and see how you get on. Apps like Park4Night will show you places you can park close to many destinations. Then walking, buses or bikes get you the rest of the way.

Thanks Guigsy - Thanks for your mail
I got my Bus Pass after my second trip out - great getting to places but restricted when there.
It will probably be a while anyway as I'm struggling to understand the legal stuff as I would not be happy otherwise.
And after all under the Cabin its a long wheelbase Transit regards B

Your VIN plate shows a 2 tonne towing limit, provided there aren’t additional stage2, stage3 etc, conversions which could restrict it.
if it has an Alko chassis (unlikely I think on an Autosleeper) they could have modified it and Autosleeper themselves certainly could have!
The likelihood is that Autosleeper’s plate is on the front rail, under the bonnet…

P.S. There is no ‘legally compliant’ a-frame as there are no standards for them to comply to, but that’s opening a can of worms!😏😂
