My MOT pointed out a chip I didn't know existed or for how long as it was high up and not in eyeline. It's the small kind that autoglass would say doesn't need attention as it's only about 2mm diameter. I know I'll have to get them out but just wondering about your experience here.

Worth doing as it might spread!

Not had to do it for years though

Agree with Brains. I had a similar problem. On one occasion on my new van (2013 A-class) I had a cracked 'screen and it was replaced. A few months later the replacement windscreen was chipped 1mm. It was repaired and is still OK after 9 years. The risk in having a repair is that the workman makes the chip into a crack.

I did learn to keep a big gap between stone lorries in Yorkshire and my windscreen!

Some insurance companies don't charge for repairs, comfort booked me into a screen repair company in Abbeville France, I turned up and the lad did it straight away no charge.

A very nice young man, working on his own, he stopped what he was doing and came and fixed my motorhome, he had me back on my trip in less then half an hour. I emailed Para-Brise and let them know he was a credit to them.

I also need to get them out as my car windscreen had an 8mm chip repaired two years ago but it's now become a 30mm crack.

Sound advise. I got smacked in the face following a quarry stone delivery truck on my motorbike..
I saw the 3" stone too late
Lucky for me the helmet visor was down. It shattered the visor but it saved me.

Following a lorry a stone flew out that was stuck between it's twin rear wheels. Hit the sunroof on the car frightened the rubbish our of me, had flakes of glass falling on me for the rest of the journey.

Has some terrible reviews on Amazon, if you can even believe good reviews. The top two windscreen repair kits include reviews for jacks and kneeling pads.
It's from my mates company I've used it it's very good but you have follow the instructions carefully.
Most of the poor reviews looked like idiots had writen them.
Some people expect it to fix anything, it's only meant for small chips.

I was impressed with Auto windscreens and Comfort.

I tried to book in online but it didn't seem to have any slots available in the next few days. Their depot is only around the corner from me so I drove the van down on Saturday morning. The bloke working on a windscreen said he'd do it in 10 mins. I went in the office gave my name and reg and they immediately picked up on the insurance company and said thats sorted. No charge just sign here. 20 mins later I was off with a repaired windscreen.

I thought it didn't or didn't give it much thought until I renewed my car insurance and it came up then. I had to call the insurance company and they said you have had a claim. So down it went. Then I had a windscreen replaced so I now have two claims. My take on it now is just get it repaired yourself.
