Ok struggling to find brake down for 7.5 tone van.
Haven't got it yet but looking in to it I used to be with the cc many years ago and thay used green flag.
Who I found verry good I can fix most problems my shelf.
But 7.5 tone for now a different matter
Getting a puncture or sumthing like that till I uprate my jacks and wheel removing stuff
And get to know the van
Any help appreciated
Regards
Bill

I agree with you. I have heard some horror stories so I decided to go with Driver Guardian for breakdown cover. Great reviews.

Not sure what the maximum weight is regarding breakdown.

Mayday (special wing of Greenflag) via CMC club membership. Personal cover often less than just RV cover.

I have RAC Arrivals for my 7.5t and it covers all of Europe and UK.
Not sure if they do a UK only cover but worth looking as it’s the only people I found that would cover big vans.

Most get breakdown cover as an add on to their insurance.
A lot of companies will only cover up to a certain age of vehicle so make sure you read the T&C’s.
CC go through Green Flag as you’ve mentioned, but you have to pay extra for overseas trips with them.

RAC Arrivals through camping &Caravanning club or whatever name they choose to be called now.
Certainly not cheap.
RAC arrival have changed their Policy wording, get them to clarify in an email that they specifically cover any length, weight height etc. All those with existing arrival cover over several years are allegedly covered, but it took several requests before they would put it in writing to me.

I’ve just checked, it says

What do I need to know?

There are no vehicle height, weight or length restrictions.

You’re also covered if you wish to tow any vehicle.

so it must have been a glitch on renewal with me, Campervan cover is restricted to 3.5 tonnes though.

I did have reason to call them and what you find is that the number they give you can’t help you - it is for standard recovery - you then get transferred to a commercial service that can handle the size and weight. I wouldn’t expect a very quick recovery but it does work

Open a Nationwide Flex Plus current account ... costs £13 a month and includes breakdown cover for up to 7.5t and more besides.

Bill this is a good deal and covers Europe, it also provides medical insurance for you and spouse + phone insurance.
It covers you and spouse in ANY vehicle you or her are travelling in whether you own it or not so long as it’s not a commercial vehicle

I seem to remember there being an 8 meter limit on that
Hi Steve, I've just checked their latest "UK & European Brakedown Assistance Policy" and no mention of length as far as I can see ... just max width of 2.55m.

My only concern for Wildbill would be that he would have to ensure his conversion is registered as a motorhome as I'm sure NW would look for an excuse to not provide cover.

I knew there was a reason why we went with Arrival for Europe

If you insure with Comfort their breakdown cover is about £70
Just renewed mine…. £25 increase on last year but £440 including unlimited windscreen and full breakdown service - and above all personal experience of good service with both
