Best thing to do is contact 3M technical they will advise, they have so many for different applications Broken Link RemovedHas anyone experience of motorhome roof top panels being fixed just by the use of 3M high adhesive tape rather than the usual sikaflex or screws , bolts etc?
Which is why the OP needs to speak with 3M technical help desk as 3M have a huge range of adhesive productsVHB is excellent but not for this use case.
Ah.......the plot thickens...!I have my awning rail attached with VHB tape and I would not like to try and get that off.
Perhaps a world of difference between a panel parting company at 25mph, into an empty ocean, rather than 70mph into the path of a following vehicle, but as mentioned ask their product department. The reason I ask is that a similar enquiry was made on a boating forum I frequent which stated that a well known UK supplier of fixings and adhesives advertises 3M's VHB as advised and used in the industry for the fixing of solar panels to motorhome and caravan roofs!
3M advertise the tape as a stand alone replacement for rivets , screws and welding. Bold claims in the litigious USA never mind elsewhere....!
It really is a technical question there are different flavours of tape and adhesives from 3M, call their technical line they will advise. have to say they do taste awful and a little chewyThe reason I ask is that a similar enquiry was made on a boating forum I frequent which stated that a well known UK supplier of fixings and adhesives advertises 3M's VHB as advised and used in the industry for the fixing of solar panels to motorhome and caravan roofs!
