Hi.
Can i ask if you can leave you gas igniter on after lighting your 3 way fridge or do you turn it off?

Don't understand..how do you turn igniter off??
3 way fridge should be automatic, once lit you leave on as igniter needs to relight fridge as it cycle on and of..
Maybe fridge make and model will clarify for us to answer..

Sorry it's a 25 year old dometic. Its not a auto switch over model.
It's just that I've been running my fridge on gas when away and always making sure that the igniter was turned off after lighting in case it "burnt out"!!
I've just heard from a fellow camper that you can leave the igniter on when the fridge is lit,and it will alert you by flashing if your gas bottle runs out.

I have a 22 yr old one. If I select gas and the 12 v is on then the auto igniter starts sparking. If it worked, the little flashing orange light would show the sparking but I can hear it any way. After the “whoosh” when the gas ignites it stops sparking as the flame turns the thermocouple off. The only way to deactivate the auto igniter is to turn the fridge off gas. If yours is staying on then it needs its location adjusted or parts replaced. The “auto” bit should look after itself. Your friend is correct, if it blows out or gas runs out then it will start sparking again, but gas will only flow when you depress the min / max knob. Hope that helps.
