One of my mates has got B1 entitlement on his licence and I have a 3.5 tonne motorhome. I said he could have a shot of it if he has the required entitlement on his licence. I was under the assumption that it was C1 that you required, but the search on Google seems to be saying you can drive up to a 3.5 tonne on a car licence with B1.

Can someone please clear it up for me please, as I don't want to end up being in the wrong and giving him misinformation?

Thanks,

Arron.

Yes, 3500Kg is the magic number with DVLA / GOV regulations.
Car licence up to this weight.

It must surely change in the future if even a large Sprinter van with batteries turns up at 3 tonne unladen

Up to 3.5 tonne fine on a normal car licence (that's what I drive) but just to be clear, a normal car licence is category B, not B1.

B1 is 'light vehicles' - see definition on the DVLA website.

So assuming your mate has the normal category B car licence, then they are good to go, but not so much if they only have B1!

How MUCH!
Is it armor plated? When I had big people carriers they weren't that heavy.
It's rather large I need steps to get in it's so high
Lovely ride though

My Merc 4x4 is only 150lbs lighter and it doesn't have batteries 😎.
I recently swapped my winter wheels back to summer ones, even the wheels weigh a LOT.
As you say though, lovely ride 👍
