3 12GB/12mth data sim for only £30?

It looks like the same thing as I have in my iPad except it cost about £50 in store at Christmas.

I am using it in Spain at he moment, not mega fast but OK.

Martin

Yes I reckon that is as good as it looks, Bev paid £56 for exactly the same last weekend, typical :swear2:

edit

I think I have done almost as well though, I either paid £30 for 30Gb or £20 for 20 Gb on a monthly contract, but you can cancel on day 1, so a 30 day sim card with at least 20Gb of data, will make sure I use every last noodle of data allowance

When you got your sim did you have a choice of when it started (ie was active) or was it activated on the date you bought it?

If Martins was the same as ours, you apparently have 30 days from date of purchase to start using it or it starts counting down on its own

But based on how quickly and often their prices change, these rules might vary as well (y)

The ones that I normally get (3) start when you first go online .

I had a 3gb purchased last August ,activated in Jan and with data usage will run out this w/e

Hi Mel

Sorry I don't know the answer to that as I wanted it to work straight away so the guy in he store put it in the iPad and it worked when Inwalked out the door.

Just brought one :) i had a 3 month one last time 3gb for £20 so buying the 12gb is a big saving for me :) the 3 month card started once i activated it so i am hoping this is the same .
regards Kate

Do you hace an ootion to choose the type of sim card.

I might well be wrong but the way I read it is that it isn't valid for Feel at Home destinations without a further purchase?

No use to me whatsoever if it can only be used in the UK but if it works it Europe it looks a good deal.

That's not how I read it. On the 'Plan details' page it says......

"Use your allowances to call and text home and use data in 18 destinations worldwide. Terms apply. Search three.co.uk for 'feel at home'."

If you click on it as if you're going to buy, it only shows a standard sim, if you do the same for the '3 month' sim you get a choice of standard, micro and nano, but the 1gb 30 day one only offers the nano sim ... so on the face of it you can't ... so might be worth contacting them to ask!

I am guessing it is the like the one I purchased in the shop, full size but you can break it down so it covers all options.

From memory you specify the size when you order.
But if it's only a nano you can get adaptors.

I've had my 12Gb 3 data card for eight months now and bags of life left in it.. Count down starts from first activation/connection. Used it in France (but not Belgium) in November. I was never without access through out the trip. Very pleased and this offer looks good enough to get a couple more for this year. So thanks to the OP(y)

I've ordered one as well so we can use it when abroad in May/June, we may also use it at our static after that if there's any data left in it, but the signal isn't great there now, so we tend to use EE.

'3' has always been one of the most expensive providers for PAYG data sims, so at the price it's a great deal! (y)

She's in good company David, as I did as well. :( That is a good price above. (y)

It comes as a Trio sim, for those that need to know.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Is the a time scale in which you have to 'activate' the sim?

I believe not. Mine have been activated the first time they are used to connect to the network. I have to date used at least 4 Three mobile broadband SIM's and discarded them when the data has been used or time elapsed.

As you're an EE user Minxy may I ask if there are any activation time constraints on EE data sims? I've had a 6Gb one for about four months and haven't unwrapped it yet. Am I doomed?

Does it say if you want to use it in Feel at Home destinations whether the 2 months maximum rule still applies.
So it could be valid for 12 months but only 2 months out of UK.
While we are on the subject has anyone been cut off by 3 for using the FAH for longer than 2 months.
Do you get a warning or do they just cut you off.................it seems to be very hit and miss whether their software picks you up or not.

We have several stock piled to use at our static and have also used several too - they don't require activation by X days so you're safe to keep it unused .. :)

AFAIK the 2 months max restriction applies to all sims, regardless of whether they're PAYG, or contract, I believe you have to spend some time back in the UK using it then can do another 2 months abroad, but as we don't do more than 6 weeks at a time it's not something I've looked into in great detail.

Just bought this, I thought 56 pounds was not bad as reduced from more than 70 pounds. Really surprised they reduced the price again.

We also use EE and have a couple of the 6Gb for 3months cards at 14 pounds, each card has an expiry date on it, on the cards I have used this ranges from 05/23 to 07/25??

How usable is the '3' sim abroad, we did have one on contract but couldn't get it to connect last year at all so I'm hoping that we will this time round.

What are people's experiences please?
