Hi guys new here. I have a Renogy mppt split charger so my solar panels and positive from my van battery are wired to it. The charger then selects which power to use. Just wondering if I wire a mains battery charger onto the leisure battery would it ruin the smart charger? Because there would be a power input coming from elsewhere? Any help would be appreciated because Renogy didn’t really get what I was asking

Sorry to be more clear it’s a dc to dc charger I have 50A Renogy

It should be quite safe to wire a mains charger to the leisure battery at the same time as other chargers. Chargers (mains, solar, B2B etc) will have diodes (electrical one-way valves) on their output that prevents any back-feeding of charge. The one with the highest voltage gets to do the charging.

They can ALL join the charging party :). It is not a matter of only one will operate at any given time.

Thanks a lot everyone. Just didn’t want to get this wrong as this stuff isn’t cheap as you all know. I think I will be on this site a lot during my build
