As per title - the right hand dipped headlight is not working..

The Ducato based Hymer is right hand drive - and all of the other driving lights work OK - including the right hand full beam, which is interesting because there is only one bulb (Type H7 - one filament) for both dipped and main beam.

Some help would be appreciated.

Edited after following comment to clarify the bulb type H7 - same bulb one filament for both beams.

I would think its a double filament bulb 1 for dip beam and 1 for main beam so probably dip beam filament has blown has it got connections on the back?

Thanks for the comment. It is certainly only one bulb (one filament) - Type H7. The dipped beam is contolled by a mechanical shutter which limits the beam.

Ah modern technology you can't beat it (although i suspect most of us would like to beat it with a big stick)

It's probably a problem with the loom, our last Hymer I repaired the looms 3 times. Poor quality cable the insulation breaks down and cracks then the wire corrodfes through.

You can check it by swapping the loom with the other side.

Here is a link to the thread about the looms.

HOG group on facebook had some new looms made to solve the problem I believe.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do not see how it can be the loom - the bulbs all light up on full beam.

It is the the same bulb (and filament) for dipped and full beam and the full beam works.

And this vehicle was built long after the 2017 faulty looms.

That loom controls everything in the light cluster, easy enough to check just swap the looms over, at least you have ruled it out then.

I don't see that the loom controls anything. It is just wires. And the wires are OK. The bulb works on full beam.

Anyway changed the looms over, as suggested. Made no difference.

I think this fault is more to do with the Hymer headlight relays.
Weird connections - more to do with the idea that one fault can't take out all headlights.

That is because it uses a 'moving shutter ' to alter the beam .That is probably a broken cable in the loom to it. as said swop the loom side to side to prove it

Is it an A class (or B class) or coach built?
If A or B this 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
I had two relays fill with water due to them being left hanging upsidedown. Replaced both (reposition loom) and all OK (2017 B678DL).
I had exactly the same problem. There are 2 relays each side.

Thank you all very much for the interesting replies.

Rather than quoting individual posts, it is probably simpler (after my long day out) to make a few observations.

- The vehicle is a Hymer Exsis-i A class. (profile not clear on that point)
- The right hand headlight is on with full beam, but out with dipped beam (left hand both beams OK)
- I have changed the looms over - left to right.
- I have replaced two relays on the left side - no sign of water
- I am 99% confident that it is not a shutter problem, making the bulb look 'out behind a shutter.

I did not realise there are two relays on each side. That will be tomorrow's job. - Thank you.

UPDATE - following morning.

Thanks to this forum members, I now have full working headlights.

DETAILS

Right Hand headlights

- Taran_Las - my fault as yours - relay hanging down, full of water.
- Baycott - I found the second set of relays (hanging out of sight) after you said there were two sets.

Left Hand headlights
- Had gone out completely due to loose connection on back of relay socket.
- Found when replacing both relays - as suggested on here some time ago.
- Problem found and fixed before posting this topic
- New relays not actually needed, so used on right hand side.

Many thanks to all.
