Why? What are we having the vaccines for? 🙄

They moved it back to 22nd August. I don't think there will be a problem by then. Perhaps I'm too much of an optimist 😏

it'll be something to look forward to for next year and hopefully a damn sight safer virus wise for us all..
we've only just begun to kick the arse outta this blessed thing, but we'll get there..

Why has it kicked of again in the IOM? I thought they were in lockdown and safe - 580 new cases this week.
Where does it come from?

No tourism so maybe ferry/imports related? Essential workers travelling?

I wonder if their strict lockdown has left less of a herd immunity and simply delayed the severe effects?

The NHS don't pay for the Isle of Man
1. Manx residents visiting the UK will receive free NHS treatment if they become ill whilst in the UK, apart from statutory charges which UK residents have to pay, such as prescription charges.

3. No payments for such treatment will be made to the Isle of Man by the UK, nor by the UK to the Isle of Man.

4. The treatment of Manx residents referred to the UK by the Isle of Man will continue to be paid for by the Isle of Man Health Service.

Whilst it’s disappointing, I fully agree with the safety precautions (COVID) aspect of the cancellation of both the TT and Manx / Classic races, given fans from the world over descend onto the rock for the road racing each year.

However, I personally fear for the future of road racing on the island. Whilst I hope all events return bigger and better next year, I think that there will be less money available to the teams, less enterants and less privateers being able to raise the cash to attend.

Also on the cash front....its obvious the amount of revenue that is raised for the islands economy by hosting the races, but the longer they survive without that money, the more likely the anti road racing brigade will convince people that the island doesn’t need it or the sad unfortunate loss of riders lives in the pursuit of the sport that they love.

Here‘s hoping for a safe, happy and bigger better return to road racing on the rock in 2022. 🤞🏻

I can’t help thinking it’s gonna be carnage the first time it’s run. 2 years away from any track is going to be difficult let alone the IOM track!

And that's why its cancelled because riders need to get familiar with the course. The newcomers come over in the summer and get escorted rides around the course and learn it. You cant just come over and go straight into practice.

Also it's about preparation. People make bookings and plans months and even years ahead and it's just too uncertain at this time with the island having such a strict border policy.

This is something of a local scandal, many locals are after the blood of politicians and/or Steamy managent. Essentially 1 Manx crew member caught it from a UK employee, brought it home, went to a party, wife to hairdressers and kids to school. Within days it was everywhere.

The amazing thing about this is that it didn't happen before. All this time Govt thought they had given proper instructions to the Steamy. The Steamy claim they were following the instructions given to the letter. We have put loads of people straight into prison for breaking the rules. In this case no one is getting blamed, it was "just a misunderstanding". As you might imagine that explanation is not cutting the mustard, especially as 1 person died of covid yesterday. The politics of this whole case are getting in the way as , of course, the Government own the Steamy so they would/could end up prosecuting themselves and/or paying the price.

This is all the consequences of small community politics.

Thanks for that. :drinks:
They had obviously become too complacent -- being an Island.
Just goes to show how one person can spread it so quickly - especially this Kent variant

I thought the IOM was covid free with no lockdown restrictions.
Maybe why it's cancelled, keep the unwashed out.
