Youngest daughter just had an odd interaction with Fiat

They bought a new Ducato in 2021 to have converted to their own camper spec

It was due a service which she booked on line at £500 ish, the booking ‘system’ tried to get them to have a cam belt change which was declined by her at 12K miles and not quite 3 years old

All booked , email confirmation told her there was a recall on the van, it will be given a new cam belt

She is as cynical as me and wonders if she had agreed to have it done at her cost would they have said anything 🤔

If there had been a general recall for Ducato cam belts on 2021 vehicles I would have expected it to have been reported on here before now. I would check this with a reliable Fiat Professional such as Adams Morey, Portsmouth. You will get an honest answer from them, probably need the VIN number.

The recall may have been for a not very popular version of the engine and/or a small batch of VIN numbers.

I doubt whether the garage would have done it for free if Fiat wee not paying for a recall.

I bought my used 2007 Ducato back in 2017 and, as I was not sure of it's previous history, I contacted Fiat in Italy and asked about factory recalls.
They very kindly furnished this information.
Sorry cannot remember which department but I think it was Fiat Assist? 👍

PS. Yes I had to register and give VIN number.
