Hi folks, didn’t think I’d be back so quick, it’s our first motorhome and only had it 16 days we’re waiting to get the over due cambelt changed so can’t use it till it’s done as it’s too big a risk to take, I’ve paused the 30 day right to reject till I’m happy everything is fit for purpose and the dealer has agreed to pay for whatever. I’ve also got electric problems but a and n sorting those out,

while it’s sitting here doing nothing I’ve decided to fill and clean all the tanks out, problem is I can’t drain the fresh water tank as there is no wheel to turn ? Just a small badly fitting plug ! Is there any other way to drain it as it’s going in Tuesday for cambelt and the waters at 25% I’ve pumped it out that far via the waste but don’t want the pump to run dry so won’t drain anymore that way.
Should this have been picked up on the habitation check before purchase ? Haven’t seen the cert yet as it’s apparently still in the ‘post’ 🤣

The white round bit below the large blue cap in the picture should hold the mechanism for emptying the tank. That mechanism is missing. Another thing the dealer will need to fix I guess.

Is there not a small plug bottom of the tank accessed by opening the big blue lid?

That is not how Hymer drain their tanks. They have a drain hole in the bottom of the tank which is worked by a wheel at the top of the tank. Where it fits can be seen in the photos, but the wheel seems to be missing.

If the wheel is turned about two thirds of a revolution it partially drains the tank, leaving 20 litres in the bottom. If the wheel is turned further it completely drains the tank. The 20 litres is what Hymer says should be the maximum amount of water carried whilst driving. But in reality it is really a ruse to lower the MIRO and so claim a higher payload. We have has our Hymer 8 years and always drive with the tank full without any problems. We can do that because our motorhome had a high payload anyway.

Ah right. Mine is the old fashioned way of sticking my arm in and pulling the plug
