Has anybody out there got this model Carthago???

Pal of mine has been recalled for an over weight problem, Carthago have emailed him after 5-6 years admitting this model maybe under plated !
Having stripped his van back to standard without any fluids on board, was told to drop it off at supplier's in Cannock (Go European) so it could be weighed, the result was 3,250t which is rediculous.
They are still in discussions now as where to go with this , and I'm sure there are potentially more out there in the same predicament, although not many from Cannock, apparently only 6 T148H were supplied at the NEC in 2018.

There are another couple of threads about this.

It's almost impossible to run any C Tourer at 3500kg, even if they are at the correct weight.

But how come he's only just been notified of the potential problem after nearly 6 years. They just wanted keep it quiet untill it's to late !

Did they never check the weight on a weighbridge, it’s the first thing I do regardless of what the manufacturer says🤷‍♂️
So they’ve been ignorant of the weights they’re running at for 6 years??🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Think this is much more rife than we think..
How many buy a moho oblivious to weight.... load it up and head out and don't even think about how heavy they may or not be..

Probably not a new coachbuilt, maybe if it was a PVC or DIY !
So you saying everybody should visit a weighbridge after buying a brand new motorhome, unladen and fully laden 🤷‍♂️ Or is that just the Carthago as you don't trust the manufacturer's weight limits as stated on the chassis plate???
I'm sure they are aware of what they have carried, but were told they have 200kg more than they actually had !

Nearly every French motorhome runs overweight and probably a good % of all motorhomes on the road run overweight, to what degree is anyone’s guess 🤷

Yes everybody should visit a weighbridge, I run a Carthago and as soon as you put 1 extra on it the payload goes down and before long you’ve not got a lot left especially at 3500kgs regardless of manufacturer. Mines something like 4280 with hardly any of the stuff I take with me.
It’s all about the extras!

Interesting post, similar to the other 2 pertaining to the Carthago c tourer range, although the issue of minuscule payloads is far from restricted to Carthago which won’t come as as surprise to the vast majority of Fun Members, purely from reading the numerous posts on the subject.

What does surprise me is you (or certainly I’ve never) seen a motorhome pulled over for weighing.

I’m not for one minute condoning braking the law, but surely if the issue is well known and documented why the DVSA are unseemingly aware.
