Over the next few months I'll be converting my Vivaro L2 8 seater into a motor home. The primary stipulation is that there will be no permanent modifications to the vehicle. I want to be able to convert it back into an 8 seater family car at any time.

So far I've bought a couple of flight cases one of which will contain the kitchen.

I've purchased a second hand centre bench seat. (Removed from a 1 year old Renault Trafic). I intend to use the base of this as my centre table. That way it's securely fixed to the vehicle but can be removed.

I've fitted a pair of roof rails from Germansell GmbH.

The plan is to install a gas hob and wash basin in the lower compartment of this two piece flight case.

This just fits in the boot of the Vivaro lengthways down one side. The upper compartment will be for storing foodstuffs and will be the outside table for preparing food on.

I'm considering purchasing this slide out from Horn tools so that the kitchen can be pulled out.

I've budgeted €6000 for the conversion.

Horn Tools. 165cm Roof tent. €1700
Horn Tools. 990x550mm slide out for the boot. €230.
Horn Tools. Awning. €300.
180 degree swivel mechanisms for the front seats. €400.
Eberspacher conversion kit for the diesel powered heater. €350.
Window insulation panels from Camperbro in Italy. €175.
Gas cooker €300.
Sink €100.
Roof rails from Germansell GmbH €230
Second centre seat to convert into a table €200.
Two used Flight boxes €350.
Folding mattress. €55.

€6000 would buy a decent used caravan.

Seems a better option to me but you may have reasons to disagree

On the Vivaro B, the front and rear seats are not interchangeable. The bed inside will be formed out of the folded flat rear seat and the centre table. Smallish bridging boards will need to be fashioned to bring it up to 2m in length. Also the surface of the folded flat bench seat is too uneven to use as is. It'll need to be covered with a board.
