sent from a bar in Fuengirola!!

Hello Tremaer,

We are leaving Cabopino around 10ish this morning having been 'champered' last night. They closed the bar, switched off the lights and left us there to carry on - which being Funsters we did :Rofl1: Luckly the cigarette machine gave off a bit of light so we could fine the door to get out.

We are on AC1 - immediately right as you enter the site. Otherwise see you at Bella Vista our next stop.

Malcolm I have sent a PM

Re The Bar

You must have been well 'champered' there is no Door :Rofl1:
Was great to catch up with you all last night even though I have a bad head this morning. Have a great trip thanks for the T Shirt.
You almost convinced me to go, maybe next year!

Overlanders still on way.. currently services near granada.. heading for fuengirola and car par as mentioned above fr saturday night stopover..

We are safely plotted up at Zahora. Arrived at lunch time and couldn't get into the plot we were given so we just took an easy option and parked where they normally put tents. Needed a couple of long cables to get EHU but it's a nice sunny plot and the sun has shone all afternoon.
We will have a couple of days rest before the short hop down to Algeciras on Tuesday.

"Overlanders" arrived in Fuengirola... Carpark listed above was quite full of vans and some cars.. No room for 3 x 8mts vans !!

Now located in Benalmadena on a large car park with lots of other vans...
Lovely park with a bar, 2 mins away and free wifi... So we are on the net and the beer.

Decision made

We left Gib (La Linea) this morning and drove to Algeciras, still not certain if we were ready to go yet. We had contemplated Zahora for a couple of days but that would have been over €100 for site, diesel and bar bill. We thought about sticking here and waiting for the main body but when we arrived we saw Rhubarb Rocks ready to go. That helped us to make up our minds and we now have tickets for 1200 tomorrow.

Spent the rest of the afternoon getting in the essential supplies from Carrefour, Lidl, Mercadona and Leroy Merlin (bits for this year's project - watch this space).

Sadly Bryan and Anna can't travel with us at the moment and I dream of spending time with Snowbird on those old tiles right next to the beach at Taghazout. Maybe it could come together before the end of this trip.

See everyone at Tagazout later in the month :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Pinkie posse update!

We are all still at Essaouira. The port car park has got really full of vans since we've been here, after the first night of 50 dh (as one night only) I got 150 dh for 5 nights.

We have finally succumbed to the joy of a riad, as the van is on day 4 of "pimp our ride" - 2 more days to go, and I don't fancy sitting in the garage for one night. Plus our shower/toilet leak problem is going to be fixed, so could have been called "Stinky" instead of "Pinkie".

(Anyone interested, Riad Thai, Essaouira, last minute booking via booking.com £65 for 2 nights including breakfast.) Sumptuous!

I've worked out what my bank charged me and the whole of the respray, fixing the "gash" in the side of it, (knocking down my friends gatepost in London,) and also pre-filling all the Hymer c. 1992 bumpy sides, so they are all flat..........£525!!! They are doing a good job. Will post some pics when finished if anyone's interested.

Happily, the workshop is on the same street as the Sunday fleamarket and I managed to find a brass sink for 210 dh £16, which will be fitted into my new improved hymer kitchen.

Meanwhile, (now I'm clean) the sun continues to shine and life is good! :thumb:

Essaouira

Hi Pinkie - am leaving Marrakech in the afternoon for the coast - will be in Essaouira by 17.00 easily. Have been reading about it in guide book and your descriptions - sounds great! Are there other funsters there at mo besides you?

Hi,

No idea actually, haven't been inspecting vans, but not come across any, seem to be mostly french/german.

Definitely worth a visit though, people are really friendly despite language barrier. Perhaps sytart a new thread to ask? Hope that helps!

We were there for Christmas and we're now down at El Ouatia (Tan Tan Plage, Camping Sable D'Or). If you want a good meal, try the La Decouverte retaurant in the souk. French lady and her husband own it and we had our Christmas meal there. It was good. There's a wild camping spot just on the southern outskirts of Essaouira, by the beach

Wild camped at Taghazout beach and at the headland overlooking the Draa river estuary for two nights. We're down to 5 vans now as one couple have returned to Spain. There's an English guy, Chris, in a Frankia tag axle long-terming here, with a front row view of the beach. Has good local info about the traders, if you ask. If you leave a bag, with 2 Dh in tied to your mirror, a baguette will be deposited around 8 am.

We'll be heading north in a couple of days to return to Algeciras, up the coast so you may see us.

Camping Ferdaous at Marrakech has a minibus service for 60Dh each way, regardless of how many are in it, so cheap for 8 people, more expensive for 2.

Happy travels.

Major 'Roadworks' on R104 between Tiznit and Tafroute.

Morning All

:Eeek: Major 'Roadworks' on R104 between Tiznit and Tafroute. :Eeek:

For those of you planning to include this very scenic route in your journey be aware that the R104 between Jemaa Ida Oussemlal and Tafroute has been dug-up and is now covered in a temporary surface of railway grade track ballast, it's very very slow going for about 35 kilometres. :Eek!:

There is an alternative road, taking the right fork at Jemaa Ida Oussemlal signposted Tafroute 62kms (rather than left for the R105 signed 40 Kms) which takes you via Khmes ait Ouafka and Agard Oudad, this is we understand equally as scenic and apparently fine.

Guess which way we went..........

Tafroute well worth the effort to visit. We stayed at Granite Rose, N29deg 43.040 min - W008deg 59.060 minutes: good site run by really helpful guy called Omar who also happens to be a good cook and provides Moroccan 'takeaways' to order (but you need to make sure you are hungry, they aren't small portions...). :thumb:

Have Fun. :thumb:
