Morning all, i am currently looking at changing my van and looking at the model in the title.
So the question is ,does anyone own one or had one in the past? Any info on known problems or anything to look out for in particular ,apart from the usual stuff ,damp, service history, cam belt change ,hpi check etc.
I am in the process of researching what i can at the moment but the vast knowledge available on the forum is always worth asking about.
Thanks in advance.

We have just traded in a 2015 C Tourer - lovely van, and very well made. (Bearing in mind that most of the fitments are the same as almost every other van.) Excellent insulation. Ours was a T150, so island bed & a bit longer I think. I notice the one you're looking at is plated at 3500 - ours was 4250, and had pretty good payload, but I think Carthagos are often a bit tight on payload. We found the lounge area a bit cramped, but that was coming from a British van with a large lounge - if you're used to a van conversion, maybe not an issue?
It looks like the upholstery is the half faux-leather? If so, check it for wear - ours started cracking about 3 years ago & we had it reupholstered at Regal.
And getting Carthago parts has been slow at times, although that may be easing? We used Hartleys in Kendal for work, but depending where you are in D&G I think BC Motorhomes in Ayr are back as Carthago dealers?

Thanks for the reply,I'm starting to gather more information so hopefully can make my mind up if it suits me before going to view it.

Should be on third timing belt, and certainly due change at 10 year point.

Would second the comments on Payload, we have a C tourer 144 on 3850kg and it's a bit tight on payload, running at 3500 kg would be impossible for us.
Also a set of tyres and a cambelt would be an expensive start to your purchase, ( my four year old Michelin tyres had some nasty cracks in the side walls)
Good luck with your purchase.

We bought our 1st Van from this particular Salesperson & Company. Personally I would buy from a well established Dealer who can give you a Warranty I know you pay for it but they hopefully know the ins & outs of Motorhomes & you have the fall back if things go wrong which they will 🤞🤞.By all means go to look at the Van but think twice before you sign 😉.Chris.
Thanks for your reply, yes things are stacking up against this particular van at the moment,I think I will be waiting until I go to Lincoln show and compare vans and prices on offer by dealers. The last van before the one I have now was a hobby siesta I got at Lincoln show and had a good deal on that.
Cheers Cris 🍻.

Hi thanks for your reply .I have asked questions on the tyres ,cambelt ,they would have to be in order or a price reduction sorted before purchase. However there is some other things like payload and space for solar on the roof so things are stacking up against even going to view it (8 hour round trip) .It looks like the search goes on.
Cheers Cris 🍻

My mate had a 2014 A Class version a nice well put together van but it was impossible to run at 3500kg, if you fit semi air on the rear you can go up to 4000kg but rear axle only increased to 2240.

Only problems he had with it was the washroom, first time he used it shower water escapes under the shower door & flooded the battery compartment also the cabinet doors are prone to damage with water from the shower. Also the loo is very high & your feet dangle when sitting on it.

Yes i did see a post were someone asked about the height of the toilet as it was a bit high for him.
Think i am going to miss this one out , i was actually looking for an A class before i seen this one,to many questions ,lack of service history and a few other things that's making me question it.I have always said if i am not 100% in my mind best to walk away.
Cheers Cris. 🍻

If you can run to £54000 (and an even longer drive), our old 2015 C Tourer is still for sale at Davan in Weston super Mare. It is C class, not A, & has done 56k miles, but has the 3 litre engine so has a chain rather than belt. We never found the toilet too high, and it has a separate shower. If you're potentially interested, PM me and I can give you more details.
