Auto Trail Savannah
Hi,

Can anyone assist? Our Auto Trail Savannah's sat nav is hopelessly out of date but I'm having trouble updating it as I don't know what make the unit is.

Another query we've had is what the hell is that thing in the middle of the dash? It looks like it should hold paper but the angle it's at would make reading very difficult. It looks like it should stand up but it won't.

I'm sure the second question will cause amusement amongst Fiat Ducato drivers. But any clues with the first would be greatly appreciated.

Cant help with the Sat Nav but!

That 'Paper holder' does lift up to about 90degs from where it is right now.
Grasp the nettle, well, the clip at the front, and give it a tug upwards.

The thing is hinged at the front.

Thanks very much. That's one out of two. I'm still frightened about grasping the nettle. A big hole in my dash wouldn't be a great result. My be it's just a bit 'rusty'.

My van's previous owner had the same problem.
He couldn't believe it when I showed him.

PS. It's plastic.

On out 2014 Autotrail, we just got rid of the 13Ele2000 and literally on of the best upgrades we have done.
The nettle won’t lift on the 2014 model and think it’s due to the airbag? Someone else might be able to clarify more.

The sat nav needs to be updated by using the port lower right and a flash drive. The centre will pull up! Our Savannah's a 14 plate and was a bugger to get the middle bit to pop. Grab and Yank!

Thanks very much for the reply. Where can I get the updated maps from?

Thanks for the reply. What did you replace the 13Ele2000 with?

Be aware some of the AT motorhomes of around that period the document holder is fixed and does not open. We replaced the one on ours (2013 Savannah) with the opening version.

We replaced our 13ELE2000 with an Xtrons TD696ADS (now discontinued). If you use the overhead TV between the cab seats you'll probably have problems sourcing a head unit with an integrated DVB-T2 TV module so you may have to go for an external tuner.

It's been ages since we changed the unit but I think the attached was the map update process.

EDIT: we're travelling with poor internet and file won't upload properly, sorry!

Thank you so much. You're worth your weight in gold just for the first sentence, which has saved me from ripping a hole in my dash.
naviextras appears to be the answer to my other question but now I have a problem. Apart from the sat nav, the head unit works o.k at the moment. That being the case I can't see its worth changing and I'm now disinclined to spend money updating a sat nav that can't be tailored to suit the size and weight of the van.
I think I'm going to leave the head unit as it is and seek out a sat nav, be it stand alone or phone based, that is aimed at LGVs. It's a slow old learning process.
Thanks again.

Best plan is to get a standalone satnav. Even if you could get the updates and the appropriate flash drive, the data storage on the unit could well be too small to take the update file.

If you're happy with your existing unit excluding the sat nav an external unit is the best way to go. If you've not seen it tonka uploaded documentation for it here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/resources/13el200-headend-unit-autotrail.108/

We currently have a Garmin 780 Camper and previously a Garmin 760 Camper. We "pair" this with Garmin BaseCamp on laptop to create pre-planned routes and transfer them onto the unit.
