Recently purchased 2007 Delfin on a Renault Master, been told they only retract on impact is this correct? tried to push them back but no joy, don't want to go too mad fear of damaging them.

Cheers

Leave well alone... couldn't budge mine...someone managed to break the fixing...finding a replacement was impossible....since replaced mine with short arm type...look ok but cannot see anything behind...

Ours is a master 2010 old model as switch over year both mirrors retract but are quite stiff we lob in some silicone grease bike chain spray

Ours were stuck too. I used some WD40 and a bit of patience and eventually they did fold. I was determined not to really force it as the door mounting flexed a bit when I went too hard.
Now I just make sure they get closed now and again and all is well.
One thing I would say is they are pretty tough. An encounter with a VW van in France when wing mirrors touched shattered her mirror and left not a scratch on ours. (she came out of the side, honest guv)

Hi Toncaz, I have a Knaus on a Renault Master also 2007, mine fold back alright, do it every day when parked up.

They fold back on my '05 ok, but with not using it for most of 2020, one of them did seize up. Sprayed them every couple of days with some AC90 type stuff containing ptfe for about a week before I was tempted to try them and then they did fold back nicely.

After three weeks of slight pushing back and forward, lots of bike chain oil and grease they have finally moved and now retract with ease,

Thanks to all for advice..:) :)
