Hi all.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction to cure a fault that has occurred with our 2007 Peugeot Boxer Auto cruise moho.
It's been running perfect for 16 days of our journey towards Morocco, but 4 days ago, having endured gale force wind-driven rain for many hours whilst sitting on a car park overnight, I had a problem starting it next morning. Usually it fires as soon as I turn the key, but this time it just turned the engine over but didn't fire up. I tried again and same result. On the 3rd attempt, it fired up and ran as normal. No warning lights are present on the dash when it's running. Now, at every stop we make, it takes 2 -3 attempts before it fires up. It will fire up straight away if I stop the engine briefly but not after a rest. I'm thinking fuel pressure but would appreciate any help to pinpoint the fault. I want to get it fixed before we get the ferry to Morocco in 2 weeks time.
Thanks
Garry.

If your engine has a manual fuel primer check it is pumped up before trying to start. If this cures the problem you have a fuel and or air leak in the fuel line.

It does sound like an air leak in the fuel system allowing your diesel to drain back to your tank.

What does the fuel filter assembly look like?

Could be any of a number of things, something I learnt near 50yrs ago and just as effective today put a simple non return valve as near to the tank as possible in the fuel line, last time I did it a 2011 Iveco daily similar but much worse symptoms to yours,it had alsorts of stuff replaced in the fuel system to no effect ...£3 off eBay in line nr valve 2 hose clips and 10 mins solved it I knew the van for at least another 10k miles with no problems

is it the common rail engine (I think Peugeot went over to common rail around that time).

garry55 have you had the fuel filter replaced before your trip?

Where would I find the manual fuel primer if it had one?

I don't know Andy - where would it be - fuel tank or engine?

Phew! Got me there Bill. I no nowt about van or car diesel engines. Would a common rail set up be same as 4 in-line injectors on a 4 cylinder motor bike?

common rail is where there is just one pressurised pipe going along to each injector in a line, an electrical signal opens each imjector in turn. It's a very high pressure pipe with just one pump feeding the 'common rail' (pipe).
The older system is where there is a pipe going to each injector (there's 4 on your engine) from a 'distributer'.
I have the common rail engine and always turn the ingition key on for a couple of seconds before turning the starter over just to allow time for the required pressure to build up.
(I stand to be corrected for my explaination)
