Never trusted or fully understood the ruddy Electro Block 99 thingy.

Seems well complicated to me.

Woke up to no 12 volt items working. The panel above the door was out.

Checked leisure battery... full.

Removed 2 amp fuse by the side of the electroblock (with 50 amp fuse next to it) which I understood to be for control panel... looked OK... replaced and 12 volts came back on... but only briefly.

Properly multi-meter tested 2 amp fuse... it's OK.

Where do I go next folks?

Thanks in advance.

On one occasion on our 2003 Burstner t625 the 240v (rather than 12v) electrics stopped working.
Turned out it was a plug that had worked loose somehow. I never did find out how but plugged it back in and it was fine.
Might be worth looking round connections for something similar.

Have you checked the fuse box mate.

As the power came on briefly when you refitted the fuse I would be looking at the battery meter as it says it auto disconnects at 10.5v or for a high resistance connection in the fuse holder or associated wiring

Update.

Still no 12 volt electric. Plenty of mains but without the panel working no water or fridge. No shower so I must be a tad whiffy!!!

The people who do work on my van have an Electro block thingy in stock...

I will have one more fiddle with it myself now and then off down to the Algarve (Armacão de Pera, 410 kms) to get it fixed properly.

Problems can often be solved by throwing money at them...

Hope you get it sorted quickly - and cheaply :)

When you refit the fuse do you refit it with all switched off and then switch the lights on and it trips.

Just thinking it might be a specific circuit tripping the electrobloc and switching all off and one at a time back on may help identify the circuit.
Failing that you may have to take the trip south.

Hope it’s something simple and inexpensive

Thank you for your help Phil D...

I've given up.

Just learnt Ingo has an ElectroBlock in stock...

I am leaving for the Algarve now...

Good luck getting it sorted without hitting the wallet too hard JJ. (y)

Did you part company with your old Classic Merc based Hymer then?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I DON’T BELIEVE IT!

I RUDDY WELL DON’T BELIEVE IT.

Ingo from Caming-Technik is coming at 10 am to look at my problem...

Whilst waiting, I looked at a thread in Fun where a couple of others had experienced the exact same problem as me and they related what they had done.

One Funster (scotjimland) had switched the battery change over rocker switch back and fro vigorously and it sorted it.

No, I thought, surely not... I switched it back and fro yesterday and it made no difference... maybe I try again but more "vigorously" this time. I did so...

No difference.

Another Funster (bigalw35) solved his problem by spraying WD40 on the switch. Too easy I thought and anyway I don't have any... but I do have silicon spray sitting right in front of me.

I gave it a shake and sprayed some over the switch... and checked the panel... nothing... but then...

BAMBINSKY!

All up and running again.

Fortunately I have a little other business to sort out here (new bits to buy for this and that) and I will deffo be buying a new ElectroBlock, so the trip down (including nearly 100 euros in toll charges) won't have been completely wasted... and I did have a brilliant meal last night and I will stock up with treats at the supermarket of shame...

But let this be a lesson to all of us... study the technical advice offered on Fun properly... even the silly suggestions like "spray the rocker switch with WD40".

You never can tell... :whistle2:

(Thank you everyone...)

Mine was the same wd40 sorted it.
The advice given to me do not to touch the rocker switch once fixed unless absolutely necessary 👍

While you are there buy yourself a can of electrical contact cleaner. Much more suitable than wd40 or silicone spray.
contact cleaner .. is a solvent cleaner designed to remove contamination from electrical contacts, no lubrication..

a sticky rocker switch needs lubrication..

WD40 is ideal, it is a non-conductor and also lubricates,
as do Silicone and PTFE sprays

So you get some of that all over the contacts then what? "Non-conductor"
If you flip the switch on and off several times to get it working then it's dirty contacts that's stopping it making or breaking the circuit.

Rocker switches can become 'sticky' , they don't 'spring over' and stick with the contacts not making good contact,, hence 'exercising' can get it working..

WD will lubricate the spring mechanism.. a small amount of WD on the contacts isn't enough to 'insulate' them from each other ..the proof of the pudding is in the success ..ask JJ

I just sprayed on the front of the rocker switch... I didn't open the thing to get to any contacts!!!!

(Great to have you posting again Jim... just like the good old days.)
