greetings fellow members
It has been two years since my last post due to work commitments and my wife's illness, so an update is due on my camper van.
the good news is, it is 95% completed now with just a few odds and sods to fit, I have finished the bedding area and storage and somehow I have managed to utilize every inch of space in the van and managed to keep quite a bit of room for moving around.
I have completed all of the wiring for the batteries and installed 10 solar panels 8 on the roof and two at the front, I did get ripped off with 2 power inverters that are incapable of running the TV and Play station.
I have also installed a VSR to charge batteries from my own alternator, along side this I have fitted a much better water pump for the sink because the first one died a warriors death along with the electric tap, I have changed all of the cupboard doors for something that matches the vans interior, I found that white doors are a real pain to keep on top of.
I also learned a hard lesson about NOT using MDF in the van because as soon as winter came and they got cold they warped quite badly, so now they are all ply coated in marines sealant.
I found Halfords sell some really good water storage containers (20ltr) quite cheap £15 but the taps they supply are in all honesty really crap. to aid keeping the water supply topped up I fitted a nifty little pump to transfer water.
I do plan on changing the kitchen/cooking area, I originally used a stainless steel mixing bowel as a sink and drilled it out for the drainer but not all the water drains off so it get boring having to keep wiping it out, so I have ordered a round sink drainer that will be a better bet.
To get the van through the dreaded MOT I ended up changing all of the brake callipers-all of the discs-and all of the brake pipes, shortly after my power steering pump committed suicide, so more money along side of the idler wheels, then to add insult to injury the instrument cluster died on me but a new set has been sourced.
To be honest most of my difficulties have been caused through letting the van sit idle for almost 12 months, but this could not be helped, but saying that what with the wife being so ill (touch and go for a number of weeks) thankfully she is recovering but has been left with some nasty little problems that need to be continually controlled, (sepsis)
So enough of my woes, the love bus is coming along well now and I hope to have it fully completed before Christmas weather permitting.
have included some images for you to view.
