I'm an oldbie MH number 10
Coming from a 3.0L load of motorhomes, both merv v6 iveco and fiat derived i always found them more than adequate on 5t vehicles.

But a 4.25t 150 fiat I found adequate but not particularly impressive.

Whats its like on a 2.3 180 on a 5t motorhome compared to the old style 3.0L ?

Granted this has bee asked before, but a long while back and i read the engine needs to loosen up a bit so where are we now on power/ MPG

We have a 2019 Burstner on a Fiat heavy chassis with the 2.3 Comformatic. We have owned it from new now covered 26300 miles. It definitely loosens up after 10,000 miles or so. When bought it was plated at 4000kg we have since up plated to 4500kg. We are away the full 90/180 abroad and usually run close to the max loading. Depending where about we are 24/27 mpg. On this trip wanted to get to our cottage for a viewing as we are selling it did the 410 mile run in one hit cruising at 60 mph where allowed and found it an easy drive. Having had a Bessacar e765p rated at 4250kg with the 3 litre lump manual found very little difference in performance but the current one is more economical.

We have a Dethleffs on a Fiat / Alko chassis, 180bhp, 2.3, 5700kg, 8.92m, tag axle. We are towing a trailer and MP3 - total 6150kg - 3.5 years old, 38,000 miles, fuel economy 22.3 mpg.

We spend 9 / 10 months on the continent each year - no issues, gets us up hills reasonably well although as we are towing / dragging a trailer and bike weighing 500kg behind us, you do notice a difference.

thank you, one f my experiences was with the Bessacar e765p 2007 x250 which for some reason, it was on a 2.3. Boy that van struggled up hills. Everyone in the 3-0Ls used to sale past me. On ski trips there were times I never expected to make it. However, we must have liked it as we had it nearly 5 years, our longest ever. Sadly it died though when the floor rotted through..
