Hi all,

This is my first post. The site is great.

I'm looking for a A class, mobilvetta yacht, Hymer 524, tannery, neismann alto etc etc. Got to have a garage and preferably bunk beds and minimum 3 belted seats. 2.8 engine too not the 2.5 with the weak 5 th gear.

£20k budget. I know it's not a lot but here's hoping.

Would you guys recommend a c lass with a garage?

Thanks

Hello and welcome from West Midlands.

.... p.s. To get the most from the forum you will need to subscribe. It's well worth £15 and will allow you to continue posting as well as letting you into areas that non members can't access.

That is doable. The older ones were built to last and people look after their MHs.

:pink:

Plenty of Hymer B524'sBroken Link Removed range, it is easy to import.

You won't many vans with proper bunk beds and a garage, often get a compromise the lower bed folds up to give a full size garage.

:welcome4:
C class possibly cheaper to buy and insure. 2.8 also had 5th gear problems, think it was solved in 2002 (not 100% sure). I had a C50 and always wanted a C90. ;)

When we changed to an A class 2 years ago it was cheaper to insure than our previous Low Profile even though it was worth £25k more, both Hymers and same insurance company.
The extra money an A Class cost is well worth it for the ambiance of the cab, better insulation and much lower road noise.

Very odd? What about windscreen excess ?

Struck me as odd as well only £20 less but less, phoned for a quote for the new van on order that's another £25k dearer than this one, insurance same price.
Same £75 excess but with Comfort £3000 limit I think Safeguard & NFU unlimited. Not a problem my screen is only around £1200 plus fitting & if the screen is expensive they treat it as a normal claim. Another trick if the screen is expensive worth a trip to Germany and get it changed there as like most things a lot cheaper in Germany.

:HelloThere:

Welcome to the Fun from Mike and Sandra (y)

Hi everybody, what a great welcome and what a friendly bunch. i much appreciate all the advice and kind words. i looked at a 524 last friday , 2004 model but it was well used, a good price at 20k but advisories such as 2 new tyres, no proof of cambelt change, broken drawer fittings , moss all around the window rubbers, rust oven shelves, food in the worktop trim, i will wait for a nice one.

at £20K for 2004, I would expect a few minor faults. with what you listed I would offer £18k as its a buyers market right now. if they say no you lose nothing. if they say yes you can use the saving to get any faults fixed, for under £1k all in

Hi and welcome :-)
As theBig1 says.. if a van is the right price and has the right layout, getting issues fixed is easy enough and not that expensive.
I prefer to buy something that needs a bit of TLC because once stuff is done, I know it is correct and will not bite me in the bits later !

loads out there, don't be blinded by the bling, LED strips and flashy external lights are great , but I'd always go for something as unmolested as possible.

And I'd be racking a C90, not garaging.

Probably not a good idea having a postcode as your location... just sayin
