Found a motor home we like at a fair price. If I were to choose I would pick it on the fiat 9 speed 180 hp. This van is the 9 speed auto on the 140 hp. Van is 7.5 meters plated at 3650 question is will it be under powered?

No.

Ours is 130hp on a 3850KG, it’s fine.

My 140 Series 9 with 9 speed is fine at 3500kg on a van but it is not just weight, the shape and aerodynamics enter the equation at speed.

I would say no.... OK can't comment specically on a Ducato but my 2.3ltr 130hp 4100kg Movano is more than capable and certainly no slouch...
Surely there can not be much, if any differance between a Renault/Vauxhall engine and a Fiat one.... performance wise!!

Having had a 130, two 150's and now a 180 I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 180.

I think it will probably be OK but it won't be a rocket ship.

I think you will need to get it uprated as a 7.5m van is not going to work at 3650kg.

The 9 speed means you'll stay in the power band much more easily, so it shouldn't be a chore. It'll be perfectly happy doing 70mph on any British motorway. It's not going to be nippy, and it will downshift a couple on the hills to maintain speed. But who cares if you're not doing the rowing?

Thanks everyone, current van is a transporter with 204 bhp so was a little concerned with a bigger van with only 140. I won’t be taking it to Santa pod or trying to do a lap of the Nurburgring as the radfords did. One reason for getting this van is start taking life at a slower pace.
