Hi everyone,

I’m very new to owning a motorhome having bought my first one last week. I think I understand most of it but I am surprised that the 12v sockets don’t seem to work off the leisure battery. They work fine when plugged into the mains but not when I disconnect. Everything else still works, the fridge, lights pumps etc just not the sockets.is this normal?

Are you talking about the sockets in the cab or living area.

Yes, the sockets are in the living area. Thinking about it, they are probably 240v sockets not 12v, which might explain why they don’t work on the leisure battery.

The 12v sockets in your living area should be powered by your leisure battery to conserve your starter battery. Have you checked your leisure battery with a multi meter?

Are the sockets 3 pin? If so they are 240v, not 12v.

Just a thought, are these sockets 3 pin domestic or cigar lighter 12v sockets.

Hi Gavin and hello,

Silly question, but could you upload a photo of the sockets you are talking about?
A pal of mine had a similar problem, it turned out not to be a standard 12v socket but some foreign thing that needed an adaptor.

And gone read only so you won't get any replies.
But if you are still reading Gavin, your fridge isn't working on 12v...its automatically switched to gas once mains is unplugged
